This game is a bit random compares to Starcraft and Warcraft, but its randomness does bring a ton of fun, especially when playing 4-4 random map (although 1v1 is even more coin-flippy than PvP in SC2 lol ^^)
I remember seeing the other day a vietnamese aoe 1 tournament with 5k viewers on twitch
Love these games so much.
Hahaha yeah, the viewers number might even be higher than that due to different broadcasting channels (we only started using Twitch very recently), but that alone should show how popular Aoe1 is in Vietnam . We mostly play fun games cuz our country doesn't support gaming, and Aoe is definitely the best ^^

That is awesome! I had no idea AoE was still played anywhere, let alone to such a huge extent!
The sound is epic though, I'll never forget these. Then again I still play occasionally.
btw. 0:26 <3 ah, the game is a classic for me, despite the limits. or maybe because of them. a lot of my youth kept in there. /fu now i'm re-installing again for the 400th time.

Funny you should say that, I wrote this blog about Age of Mythology yesterday and will be transferring it over to Team Liquid in the future (with ammendments and updates):
This diary is a little insulting. Age of Empires was one of the better game at that time. Even if people tends to view SC as superior, the Starcraft campaign holds little interest compared to the historical re-enactment of AoE. Also Age of Mythology was pathetic -.-

Good to have an opinion, I'm just stating mine too. I didn't mean to insult you, I mean I liked AoE but I personally thought AoM was significantly more dynamic and interesting to play, likewise with StarCraft. I have a good friend who hates AoM and loved AoE too, specifically due to the aesthetic and design of the games, but I don't personally mind how a game looks, I'm more interested in game mechanics.
