I arrived at the dreamhack entrance at about 11 o'clock AM. As I noticed from my last dreamhack event the queue was not that long around that time and I managed to get into the event after a few minutes. I went with my own computer so I had a BYOC ticket. After a few moments of setting up my computer at my table I went to check out the other halls.
A few of the parcipitants of the eizo open had already arrived due to the first groupstage that began at 2 PM. As I was a parcipitant myself in the eizo open I had to keep an eye on the clock aswell, altough my matches started at 6 PM.
I played versus three opponents in the first groupstage and those were: White-Ra, PwFCarnage and PwFGroet. My first game was against Groet, I did some early-mid game pushes and ended both games quite early winning the series 2:0. After the win against Groet I played against his teammate Carnage. As I saw that they were teammates and Groet seemed to be the better version of carnage I tried to play around with the same style I did against Groet. I managed to kill him quite early in game 1 and succesfully defended a 4 gate in game 2 finishing 2:0.
My series versus White-Ra was a little bit more close than my previous series. I hid my first barracks in my natural while proxying my second one at 16 supply going for the normal 2 rax techlab/reactor build. White-Ra did not see any of my barracks and seemed to be quite confused. I ended up doing some damage and finished the game with a push later on, 1:0. My other games were quite onesighted and White-Ra simply outskilled me altough I made a huge mistake in game two I doubt I would have had a chance if I did not do that. In the third game I tried all-ining and it utterly failed.
By doing that I finished second in the group stage with White-Ra in the top meaning I would advance. I was looking forward to see my new group but I think it would make any bad TvZ player shiver. I was matched up against the stable player Morrow, the lesser known professional player Cytoplasm who proved himself defeating a lot of good players and Dragon the korean. I think the results after that group stage was what anyone would have expected. I went 0:6 getting absolutely outplayed and crushed by every player in the group.
It was very exhausting playing at the second day due to me planning to sleep at 1 AM but getting denied into the sleeping hall and redirected to another sleeping hall 200 meters from dreamhack. It was raining like crazy and I went to sleep on the cold floor with wet clothes and a wet pillow. I woke up a ton of times because I was cold and I was very exhausted the day after that. No sleep and no food makes no good games.
After all the event was very fun. A very well deserved champion and a well deserved runner up (MaNa and DIMAGA). The only bad thing about the finals was the queue. There was not enough seats for everyone so I had to wait in a queue for 2 hours missing the first game of the series.
Last of all I want to say thanks to everyone who read the blog and a tip to everyone wanting to go for the BYOC ticket to any dreamhack. Drink lots of water and try to stay away from junk food and soda, you will feel much better and will have a better experience.
