I’ve put a thought into this but I thought I’d run it by Teamliquid, like all major life decisions should be. I’ve decided that I’m going to take a break from university for a few years to pursue my passion of fire juggling. Right now I practice as much as I can but dont really have that much time outside of my schooling. Currently I can juggle one ball for about 30 seconds before dropping it. I think this is really good considering how little I’ve practiced and that I’ve had no prior circus experience.
Still, if I want to be able to take it to the next level, I think its pretty clear that I need a lot more time to be able to dedicate to practicing. I think after about 4 months of full time practice I should be able to juggle three balls and, after a full year, be able to replace the balls with actual fire. Of course I plan on moving to Romania, the mecca of Fire Juggling and home of the GJL (Global Juggling League) as soon as I can so that I have access to the best training environment possible. If all goes to plan, I should be a pretty serious contender for GJL championship by the end of 2013.
Until then I guess I’ll just try to participate in as many MLJs (Major League Juggling) as I can to get a feel for the competitive atmosphere and hopefully start to get my name out there. Maybe I might even get contacted by a major team like Evil Jugglers ! I’m so inspired by how much dedication Naniwa has to Starcraft 2 and how willing he was to sacrifice everything to be the best. I want to be the Naniwa of pro-circusry and hopefully contend with the Romanians!

The problem with this is that the Romanians are so far ahead of the curve in terms of the speed and accuracy in which they juggle the fire that you (as a foreigner) will never actually be able to catch up to. No matter how many hours you spend juggling with your foreigner friends it just won't make up for the practice and dedication that the Romanians are accustomed to. Having said that it's not my place to discourage you from following your dream and I hope that one day you will be GJL champion!

Well first I have to give up real-life to get good at juggling. Maybe once I'm really good at juggling I can get real-life back and juggle it with juggling. Right now thats just too high level for me.

On a side note, the youtube video posted in an earlier post is kinda basic stuff, i hope that's not the only thing they learn at the academy. I've learned everything on my own ( with my girlfriend and her twin sister ) and i've picked up on juggling,breathing and poi swinging on a semi pro level within 1 year ( oh this sounds right like my SC2 career! )
