Have you ever had a bad time picking a race?
Well, let me tell you my story:
I have a group of practice friends, we're like one step before the formation of our own team. The thing is, one of my mates was like one step closer to getting paid to play on a local SC2 team. But then he started QQing that he cannot pick a race, he got bad, then got demoted to "rank B", which means got further away to getting paid to play. And now I have this too, can't pick a race. I gotta think that's contagious, so wear a mask while you read this.
He was top 1 masters Terran player, now he is rank 60 masters, and can't pick P or Z.
I was like mid masters zerg, now I'm almost getting demoted to diamond, and can't choose between Z or P.
I tried things like "I'm not playing toss because I know more about the game as a zerg, and zerg is overused, 70% of the players in tournaments are zergs."
but on the other side, I watch a replay of MC using air units in PvZ, that makes me wanna play as protoss so hard, but I don't know things like CB, building timings, and my knowledge of the PvT matchup is almost null.
So, what would you do?

If it is that hard to decide, then just pick random or just roll a dice to decide for you. Once you pick one though, stick with it for awhile. Don't let outside forces dictate, which race is your favorite to actually play, that is all that matters.

Play the race you like the most.
Playing a race just because you see a pro doing something cool never works out, since you probably won't be able to do the same anytime soon and will get bored of the class before you actually get close to doing it.
I picked Zerg because I like how to race works, but my favorite players are Terrans, since they are the ones that manages to pull off amazing micro intensive stuff.

Think about what TLO has done, he consistently played Zerg and Terran up to a point and still made Grandmasters. What i'm saying here is that if you can't pick a race then you'd better spend ALOT of effort on all three races to stay on the top and have that chance to get paid to play.
Actually I have a question, if he couldn't pick a race, how did he make top masters and even get offered pay? I mean, he should stay at top masters 1 if he made it to the top by playing random races, no?
A good way to pick is attend userbased/local SC2 tournaments and play the race you win the most with.

Thats a good reply, and I can't disagree since I've been to mid + masters and pretty much got bored at that point lol.
How about trying out some micro map and checking out what race you enjoy microing the most?

I learned a "trick" a while ago. Throw a coin and before the coin even lands you will know what it is that you want.

im playing terran as mid-high masters on EU and let me, as someone who offraces as P on my 2nd account on around high diamond, tell you one thing , if PvT is whats holding u back most, just play P. PvT is really easy to learn compared to PvZ or PvP imo :x

I'm having an identity crisis too. Way back in beta and first few months I was T. Then have been P for a long time. Recently (see today!) I've been playing Z using a friend's account who doesn't do 1v1 ladder. I was hoping his MMR would be lower... 3-10 right now, most of the wins are from my opponents cheesing which is the one thing I can beat apparently.

Roll a 6-sided die. 1-2 is Terran, 3-4 is Protoss, 5-6 is Zerg. Stick with the result.

Same problem here. I play all three races right now and just can't decide which one I like the most, so I end up switching between them all the time. Right now I'm Masters with P and T and Diamond with Z, sometimes I wonder how good I would be with one race if I had just stuck with it instead of playing hundreds and hundreds of games with the other two races as well. ._.

Figure out how many favorable matchups you have playing as each race and go with the race that has the most favorable matchups for you. I considered switching from Protoss several times, but I realized I don't like playing zvp or zvz a lot, and my tvz is hit or miss, and I learned to put up with pvp, so I now decided to stick with Protoss. From playing Random I learned to appreciate matchups over race, and I decided most of my favorable matchups were as Protoss :p

I had this same exact issue for seasons 1-4 before i finally decided on Zerg. I went about things a bit differently.
1 week i'd play nothing but Terran
Week 2 i'd play nothing but Protoss
Week 3 i'd play nothing but Zerg.
I'm a ladder addict, so within that 1 week span i played roughly 50 games (starting off in bronze, with 0 RTS experience) a week.
By the end of the first week I started playing Favored Silver, switch, lost a bunch, got back to Favored Silver, switched lost a bunch. This continued wit steady progress, usually by the end of the Zerg cycle I'd rank up to the next league. This continued into Platinum where i struggled for a while, as i began to learn more of the intricacies that is RTS gaming.
But my 3 races became stronger rather equally. My zerg always caught on faster than my P and T, in fact T is the hardest macro race for me, i feel like i'm playing wack-a-mole with my production in the late game.
By the end of season 1 I cracked Master's with this playstyle. Eventually (and it depends on what you particularly value) you'll either choose the race you're strongest at naturally (for me it's zerg) or you'll pick your favorite (for me it's Protoss). I don't like to lose, so naturally I stuck with my zerg, and offrace my Protoss a few hours a week on my friends account who never made it out of the hell that is high bronze-low silver.
TLDR; keep doing what you're doing eventually you'll reach a breaking point, to where you'll finally pick a race.

Its pretty easy to choose really. Just think about what kind of playstyle you'd like to have. Are you aggressive? Cheesy? Passive? Do you have a good eye for the details, good scouting? Or are you a micro hero, with perfect unit control? Do you want to expand everywhere on the whole map, or do you never want to expand even once?
Answer these questions, and the race that fits you best will become clear, I think.

Pick the one you want to play.
I mean the one you actually want to play, not the one you think you should play because you want to be good. You'll get better if you switch, even if it takes a few weeks or a month. What you're actually doing is procrastinating switching because you don't want to get worse at the game.
Don't worry so much, play what you want. <3

Don't pick a race on your current skill level; you can always improve game knowledge and mechanics, but you can't improve the natural fun you have... if that makes sense.
