I'm still an amateur hoping to become as good as the trance greats some day, but here is my latest effort:
http://soundcloud.com/dj-horuku/mikappe
Compared to my last production (Ucliptic), this one is much more mellow and progressive. I spent a lot of time mastering, and overall I'm pleased with it. I feel like the kick is missing somewhat, but I decided to finish it up.
I dedicated this to my brother who just had an appendectomy, so I tried to put some emotion into it .
Please leave any tips or comments (negative is welcome) ^^.

Even if I think your song sounds a bit simplistic, I really enjoyed it tbh. It's more relaxing than fancy, I like the atmosphere.
And I wish the best for you and your brother !

i dont like the fade to silence in the middle, i would get rid of it altogether (cant explain what i mean in reality - id make it become more empty in the middle rather than low volume), other than that very nice soothing *sleeps*

You should try having the piano and other melody instruments not always hit directly on the beat, it made the track really hammering at times and almost like hardstyle

Aye, thanks for the tips. Just trying to keep it simple at the moment while I work on mixing. That's my biggest hurdle though, is song structure.

Its good for what it is but the experienced ear (mine) can tell that its homemade. Thats not a bad thing at all but though you have prolly spend a lot of time on it, it comes out very simple compared to "real" trance.
I´ve always wanted to make stuff like this myself but its just so much work that I lose my motivation.
Keep up the good work and 1 day I might hear your stuff on www.di.fm

As already mentioned, a little too marcato throughout.
Maybe a little repetitive given how upbeat it opens up, it lets go of a lot of energy and doesn't take it back.
I think there may be room for another (and brighter) melody on top to give it more substance. Something more memorable than the stoccato melody and strings you have right now. Something light, whimsical, mellifluous.
Otherwise, good engineering and dynamics.
