Hey, as some of you might know, Diablo 2 ladder is getting reset today. Me and some other people are going to do a ladder attack on hardcore mode.
It's going to be a dedicated team effort, with two teams running in parallel. We expect to beat hell fairly quickly within the first day and then go for 99 eventually. I'm going to be streaming this on my channel here. I'll be playing a support paladin (holy bolt/auras - primarily conviction tho). We're just one of the several teams that's going to run, so if you want to see a ladder run, or enjoy Diablo 2 in general, or want to get a bit hyped for Diablo 3 - be sure to check my stream out.
As a side note, at the time of this post, I've been away for 16 hours already, and it looks like I'm going to put in at least another 13, so this is bound to get pretty wild pretty quick. Servers are about to go down in about 15 and will come back up in several hours. Time to start warming up :-)

Awesome I love d2 and I've never seen a holy bolt pala I made the ladder for the first time ever with my necro (HCCL lvl 80) this summer.

I never got beyond 97 hardcore though, it just gets too slow after that. >.<

This sounds pretty interesting to watch, since I personally only played Diablo 2 casually. How fast do you think you will progress through each act/difficulty?

I remember rushing to spawn the Hellfire Torch boss. My friends and I couldn't do it so we just started messaging the top 20 people on the ladder. Ended up getting a lvl 95 (probably top 5 on the ladder at the time) killed like 5 times.

this sounds fun but when i play my d2 freezes randomly... and i have to restart or wait like 5 minutes for it to unfreeze

I'm suspicious of battle.net too. I've lost a character to battle.net booting me off before, but that was a solo run, this time around I have people to back me up Plus I won't exactly be in the front lines ^^

Well, basically, you hang around, heal people and support them with auras. Nothing too flashy, but a good addition nonetheless. And thanks :-)

We should be done with hell in less than 8 hours if people don't tarry around and/or go to sleep. Maybe it will go way faster, maybe not, we'll see.

Did he manage to recover his body each time? This sounds like an awful lot of experience loss :|

Any idea when the reset is finished? I can't connect to any realms at the moment and it's been down for a few hours Never tried on reset day before.

Bump again, we're taking a short break before a couple more NM Baals are we're going to tackle on Hell, in case anyone is interested. So far, it's taken us a bit more than 5 hours so we're trucking along the original schedule.
Sadly, we had a death. Lost one of our sorcs while questing in A5 NM

It shops the resist gear or it gets the deeds in Hell. Sorry for boring you, but it is necessary. It's not like this is the first time I've shopped for items in a similar manner

Haha no, I totally understand. I just never had the patience to try for this shit myself (which is why I always started playing a few weeks after resets....and never in HC haha)

You tell me, I used to have a huge surplus stash, haven't had to deal with this stuff in years literally. Last thing I shopped for was a 2 os wand for White runeword I think.

Yeah, it's LoD. TBH, for a playthrough like this it kinda doesn't matter since we have like 5 times between both parties lol. And as for leveling, well, there's Act 5 and stuff >_>

Well, I've been awake for roughly 32 hours now, but only the last 9 of those were laddering. I can't take it any more, going to sleep. We didn't actually beat act 5 hell yet, but at least I have something to show for staying up so "late". I also accidentaly streamed my irc account password, but caught onto it on time and changed it.

How do you avoid the whole Bots coming in and spamming thing? Is passworded channels the only way?

Watching the VOD right now, I hope you manage to solve the flickering issue. It makes it quite hard to watch, though still somewhat enjoyable.
Are you guys planning to use some sort of voice communication software, or is that unnecessary? If yes it would be nice to hear it.
Could you maybe tell us about what builds you and your party are using?
I hope you make it to lv99!
