I'm Ralph, a 21 guy from Poland that decided to go pro with SC2 a little over 3 months ago. I've always been into PC games, always a passionate fan but never that committed to any game to such extent. In 2012 I'll attend the major SC2 LAN events and in 2013 I'll win them.
Right now it's just a progamer cocoon

At first I wanted to practice hard 7 days a week, workaholic that I am, but it turns out 5 days a week is a more productive schedule. I noticed that after a few days of intense practice I'm getting mentally tired, sloppy in my games, not caring anymore. When I take a complete day of rest, I come back feeling refreshed, inspired and playing noticably better.
Rest is just as important to my improvement, as practice is. As far as I know, brain needs time off to sort out and integrate all the experiences I got from playing games. It'll sort them out into patterns of behavior that lead to winning more games. But it needs time off =)
So today I'm writing this first entry ever after a first day of practice after a break. I played 30 ladder games and 3 customs, all with about 65% win ratio. My play seemed really strong, uncomparably stronger than the day before I took the break.
I wonder if the blogging idea sticks with me =) Sometimes I get bored and forget about such side-projects, but sometimes they really morph into a habit.
Oh, and I did get kicked out of Playhem Diamond Daily tournament by a really strong zerg. I think he was a smurfing master league player. If you've never heard of Playhem, they've got awesome tournaments for real prizes on all league levels. Even silvers can win valuable stuff, so definitely check out playhem.com for daily SC2 tournaments.
Cheers and sunshines!

PS What do you think about balancing rest and practice? Should I just work my ass off 'till I die of mental exhaustion, or should I live a balanced life with decent practice schedule AND time off for recovery?
