To artists' corner, where we get to share our gaming art! This is a running project I've been working on where I and others combine our love of Starcraft with our love of making stuff, and by that I mean anything that could be called art, paintings, doodles, photomanipulations or even short stories, anything short of "10 reasons the Queen of Blades would never go out with me". I'll be presenting different pieces, of differing skill levels by myself and members of the community, in the hopes we can all learn to improve.
This entry is much later than I had expected it to be unfortunately, as I was away, visiting Jinro's home country of Sweden, and had hoped to blog from there but the hotel wifi was a little inconsistent and I had much more to see and do than I expected. As such this post is a little rushed, but I had fun doing it Sweden's a wonderful country, I loved the place, the people and the food (luckily stayed away from anything with herring, girlfriend had an unpleasant experiment with some pickled herring that was not to her taste).I spent my time in and around Stockholm seeing the sights and hunting for gorilla Terrans (they have of course all migrated to Korea).
Sketch of a Terran gorilla held in captivity at Skansen, Stockholm's open air museum (hastily done on paper I got in my hotel no less!). These wily beasts are nowhere near as skilled as the gorilla Terran Jinro, all they can do is throw seige tanks at passers-by. This angry lad was taken in from the wilds by a specialist using the traditional harpoon-blunderbuss needed for it's thick hide. (If you want an amazing picture of a gorilla Terran check out Jinro's Liquipedia page, has an excellent piece by Stigma- :D)
This week's theme
This week I set out to draw something related to Terrans. Another broad theme which was fun to play with, as of course the Terrans are so rich with both high-tech armouries and redneck attitudes. I also thought it'd be fun to experiment with the medium I made this week's entry in, so here is a speed-painting I did in Sketchpad Express with my new iPad. Really just an excuse to play with my new gadget
Finger painting of a a marine!
This took about 1 hour, probably wouldn't have taken as long if I hadn't been finger-painting as I'm not used to it, but it was a lot of fun. Attempted a General Lee sporting a Terran logo (is that the Terran Confederacy logo or just a blanket human logo? need to get up to speed on canon -.-). There should be more to come in the form of LieZel's contribution, and I may work on this a little longer, it really doesn't feel complete, but was fun to make
Next week's theme
Again contributions are welcome from anyone in the comments so I'd like to announce the theme for my next post (hopefully next week, sorry about the delay!). I think Protoss should definitely get a look, as we've covered the other two races in the game and we don't want to be imba Anything and everything related to the Protoss is welcome. I'm a Protoss player so I'm looking forward to this one! PM me if you're planning on contributing, or just post your work in the comments!
