So the debut of F. United started off with low expectations after the very disappointing 0-4 at the hands of some relatively unknown korean players in code A. Some of Europe's best players who had beaten koreans in the past came to play, as well as the veteran Jinro, but they all fell pretty convincingly in the very first round.

Now with the only thing on their minds being GSTL, it was time to avenge their losses against one of the best teams in Korea, well mostly thanks to DRG let's not kid ourselves here, and it would be tough. Fenix fell in the first game after having a pretty sizable lead and a chance at an auto win until the banshee got feedbacked, but then Thorzain came out with an amazing 3 kill against 3 different races.

So now let me get to the point of my blog. His next opponent would be Genius, and thorzain was literally 1 kill away in his best matchup from all-killing MVP. TL was going pretty wild and the thread was already at like 100 pages by now. After watching some protosses get decimated by the 1-1-1 all-in and about 50 pages of whine, theorycrafting, and just plain anger and disgust at the build, they were all cheering when thorzain pulled out this build and essentially guaranteed the all kill. But then somehow, some way, thorzain "botches" it and genius holds for the first time in like 2 seasons and everyone is stunned.

At this point I was incredibly amused. Note that this was just after code A ro 16 where Yoda lost badly to tassadar and tassadar then lost to 2 consecutive 1-1-1 builds from Yoda and he took an "undeserved win". Not only was this the one and only time where probably 90% of TL was cheering for the build to work, but it was stopped and Genius prevented the all kill and was on his way to a comeback. He then dismissed soccer easily and it came down to naniwa vs. genius in the ace match. Genius lost to a 1 gas 4 gate while he was going 2 gate robo, and my dream of seeing the most amazing, stunned reaction of a forum went in flames.

And no, I really don't care about foreigners vs. koreans, and I was just hoping to witness something like this:

Oh well, maybe next time =/

TL.net users are disgusted by boring all-ins when they have no real commitment to the games being played, as is the case with a lot of GSL code A and S games. When watching F. United play, they were cheering for ThorZain like they did in his TSL games. It didn't matter how he won, the only thing that mattered was ThorZain coming over and immediately all-killing MVP. So they cheered for ThorZain regardless of the build. Likewise, normally 4gates are not exciting, but this was the ace-match and it was Nani 4gating.

Don't be smug because people care about the game. You are like the guy that goes to watch sports matches live and just sits there on his seat, feeling smug about not being as into the game as the hardcore fans. Please understand that a lot of people like ThorZain and a lot of people like Nani.

Also, it is pretty douche to hope for the opposing team to win because you want to see people get sad.

When you don't care about the players/team you want to see good games.

When you are invested in players/team and want to see them win you want to see them win any way possible.

I don't see a problem with this?.. It's just the way of the spectator in any sporting or athletic event.

The white team pulled ahead in the last seconds of the game with the score at :12, started to celebrate, and then someone on the black team threw up a Hail Mary at the last second of the game (while the white team was celebrating) to score, take the lead back, and win.

How about the part where he thinks I'm some sort of guy who basically feeds off the misfortune and sadness of others. If you don't think the basketball video was hilarious and instead feel some sort of large remorse for the team that lost you probably need to loosen that belt a few notches. Everything was set up perfectly and as someone who really doesn't give a shit about foreigners vs. koreans (for either side) I'm disappointed in the outcome.

And please, calling me out for not being a true fan of the game while the people I were talking about only gave a shit that a foreigner won even if they used a highly criticized and let's face it, overpowered all-in, is pretty ironic.

Regarding the Code A bit, Jinro (and Sase I think) were coming back from travel and Thorzain complained of jet lag/sickness.

It's not that Europeans are worse than Koreans, just that they were not as familiar with the strategies present on the Korean ladder. I'm sure at the end of their stays they will be beasts because they will be practicing with the best .

It's pretty hypocritical for people to criticize a build in one game, then turn a blind eye to the same build in another. I'll never understand fanboys.

What you doesn't understand is that we don't give a shit about builds when it's a matter of foreigners beating koreans, and that some people, instead of having their heads up their asses focused on theory, actually ARE FANS of particular players, and will root for them because we like them.

I have to agree. Dernebel's post makes a lot of sense. If some random Zerg is going to 6 pool his way through the Code A qualifiers that's pretty bad. and I think that zerg is horrible and I'll bash him and I probably won't watch his games.

If Idra is going to 6 pool most of his games in MLG I'm going to sit on the edge of my seat screaming everytime a zergling dies or if a wall off gets up.

You could call it hypocritical or you could just understand that people support these players and want the best for them and if that broken as shit 1-1-1 build is going to win the game and bring success to the guy you support and want I'm going to cheer til my throats raw.

It's only hypocritical if the same person does it. The people citicising the 1-1-1 in the Yoda vs Tassadar are probably protoss fanboys whilst the people praising it in Thorzain are a different set of people.

Did the OP think that TL is one homogeneous set of people??
