Nicotinamide (more commonly known as niacinamide) happens to be a vitamin B acid, with some pretty awesome properties. You may recognize this name if you're an avid drinker of the "energy drinks" that seem to fill up aisles in grocery and convenience stores now.
I've been drinking lots and lots of Monster, Red Bull, Rockstar, and Amp energy drinks and felt inexplicably good. It didn't just give me energy, but also made me feel relaxed in a way. I've been kind of craving this feeling now, and I can't go a week without drinking 6-8 energy drinks.
Well I came across some information that Nicotinamide is actually beneficial for many things - and some people actually take large doses of it on its own for social anxiety, complexion, and energy. It is also a vitamin that is used in conjunction with tumors and cancer to help people recover faster.
As wikipedia states:
"Nicotinamide lacks the vasodilator, gastrointestinal, hepatic, and hypolipidemic actions of nicotinic acid. As such, nicotinamide has not been shown to produce the flushing, itching, and burning sensations of the skin as is commonly seen when large doses of nicotinic acid are administered orally. High-dose nicotinamide should still, however, be considered as a drug with toxic potential at adult doses in excess of 3 gm/day and unsupervised use should be discouraged.[2] In overall, it rarely causes side effects, and is considered generally safe as a food additive, and as a component in cosmetics and medication.[7]"
So my goal? I'm going to go to GNC tomorrow and pick up a 250 pill bottle. I am going to start right away and be dosing myself with 1g a day (2 grams less than the amount that becomes toxic) so I'll be able to reap the benefits without needing an organ transplant. Has anyone else done this before?
I'll be recording how it works for my SC2 gaming, as well as the social and complexion effects.

Have you noticed any "crash" effects from this?
I've never tried any of that stuff before, and have actually gotten what feel like similar benefits from not eating sugar.

I dunno, I kinda get that way too...Maybe it's because I'm so cracked out, but it makes the work day a lot more bearable when I snag an Amp in the morning. :p
I used to crash really bad, like I'd have two or three Amps a weekend, but that went away and I can have one in the morning and not have the "oh fuck it's 2pm and I'm ready to pass out" crash that I used to have. I think your body just adjusts to it..
...I just love the flavor of caffeine, haha.

Niacin, huh? I know that name rather well. Before I realized I had an anxiety disorder I took vitamin B complex (with lots of niacin) every day to help keep the panic at bay. It didn't cure the issue, but as you say, it made it easier to relax. I suppose that's why my parents call vitamin B "nature's valium". Just be careful you're not pushing your body far past its limits with all the energy drinks (we may be young, but we have crashing points!).
