Pretty sure there shouldn't be an n in there o_O

Yeah. That was just a stupid romanization I copied from somewhere, because I'm too terrible to type it >.>

Hangukmal is actually how it sounds, if my ears aren't dead

Hangulmal?
actually Hangookmal might be correct. my korean is noob and i should take my time to read MizU's Korean lessons

I don't recommend MizU's hangul lessons much... although since it's such an easy writing system, I guess it doesn't matter way too much where you learn it

Just saw http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/assignment_7&id=8231218 on TV. It's the fourth of july, but that was the final, and longest story they had lol.

If you're planning on watching korean shows I suggest the game/variety show kind instead of dramas/movies. One of the interesting things about these shows is that they'll place captions in the show which does help promote learning new words if you've got a pen/paper handy.

krndandaman: http://wordshowers.willkern.com/ is the place to go for vocab

sleepyguy: yeah, you're right. Hyungjoon becomes a progamer is great for learning Korean because you can hear the Korean, you can see it written down in Hangul on the screen, and you also have the English translation!

I am a beginner myself but I can recommend some things that helped me quite a bit.

First you need to learn hangul. I found the "Introductory Korean" page on this site most helpful for that:
http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/

I recommend going through and listening to and practicing with ALL of the sample clips for EVERY letter over and over until you have a solid grasp for the pronunciation (although I wouldn't worry about memorizing the more complex rules and exceptions yet, you'll just pick them up with time). There will be some things which will be hard to pronounce. The harder stuff you'll get better at over time with future practice. For exmple ᄅ was very hard to me, but I think I have gotten quite a bit better with it over time.
Edit: Also try not to rely on the romanization too much and don't be surprised when letters can sound quite a bit different from their romanization.

Next I highly recommend this site:
http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/category/lessons/level-1/?sort=date_asc

Basically it breaks things down into bitesized 5-20 min lessons which actually explain stuff, give examples, and so on. The presenters are a bit cheesy, but fun and somewhat entertaining (the girl is super cute).

I had tried other sites which are like rosetta stone in that they just give you a lot of sample sentences and no explanation and basically they suck (although they are ok practice for pronunciation). Everything else I tried just seemed like a big chore and the one I gave you actually made it fun for me.

Also I would recommend that you don't think about your end goal too much, otherwise you will just get frustrated (I want to be fluent nao!!!). Just set small goals and enjoy every tiny bit of progress.
