Perhaps I'm just a ravenous fan, but the Zeta movies were amazing. The ending is much better since it cuts out ZZ and those horrible antics. The Char and Amuro moments were remastered and beautiful. The Four scene was taken out, which could be good and bad depending on how you analyze her death and sacrifice.
On another note, what do you think of Igloo? I've always liked it, but then again I'm heavily biased towards Zeon.

I actually enjoyed R2 Sure, they kinda added a lot of nonsense plot devices but the finale was epic!
Gundam Wing was my first mecha series, back when they showed it on YTV near midnight... I didn't understand half of it at that age but it was awesome.
If you're interested in psychological-mecha series, you might want to check out Bokurano, which is another deconstruction of the mecha genre. Great mindfuck :D

A friend and I have been slowly translating the Mazinger Z manga - we're about halfway through the first volume of Great Mazinger now. \o/
Code Geass R2 is delicious trainwreck. Hilarious stuff, and they actually tied up the final episode quite well.
Favourite series of mine are Turn A Gundam and GaoGaiGar.
GunxSword is a pretty solid series too.

Sent hasn't seen Igloo, but I own the movie. I wasn't a huge fan because... well it's cgi and I dislike cgi. The Char/Amuro moment in the movies were great, but the fact that Zeta cuts out Kamille's real ending was retarded for me. Also ZZ isn't that bad AFTER anime ja nai. It explains what happens going into Char's Counterattack well. Zeta movies were terrible bad not canon lets make it a happy ending crap.

Is pretty short to really comment on it but I thought it wasn't good. I mean, the idea was nice and all but somehow, the characters' gestures and facial expressions felt weird. The characters themselves...well, the main character was ok, the woman was useless and I laughed when+ Show Spoiler + because the whole scene was just ridiculous. The people who are testing the machines, well, they are pretty much all the same, except for the last episode(s). The series contains some nice background information and the general feeling outside the other ones, but still...I don't know.
