So yeah over the past few weeks I really began to like movies from the 80s and early 90s in which the plot focused on the youth culture. I think I have seen all the "standard" movies from that era, but am looking for more!
Seen so far:
Liked:
(Back to the Future) Breakfast Club Dead Poets Society Footloose Grease Hackers Kids Pump Up the Volume Saturday Night Fever Taps
Didn't Like:
Fame Fast Times at Ridgemont High St. Elmo's Fire The Virgin Suicides Wargame (although not really fitting the theme)

ferris bueller's day off perhaps? A pretty famous one that your list seems to be missing!
almost famous
Breakfast Club is fucking SICK. And yeah watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it's like an opium dream.
Back to the future and Hackers were my favorites, I still want a delorean.
Well Grease and Saturday Night Fever were from the late 1970s, but I'll let that slide.
'Heathers' is conspicuously absent from that list.
Election was pretty good. It's got Reese Witherspoon though could be from early 2000's.
Dazed and Confused - win.
All the John Hughes movies (Sixteen candles, breakfast club, weird science etc.)
How did you not like Fast Times at Ridgemont High? I love that movie.
Have you seen Heathers? edit: I also heavily recommend "Just one of the guys" and "Teen Witch".

if youth is anything college and under, you should bend your rules by two years and watch animal house.

I'll second Ferris Bueller's Day Off, it's still pretty funny even today.
And how could you not like Wargames? That movie was (unintentionally) comedy genius.

Animal house is one I would suggest. If you wanted to go back to the 50s, Rebel Without a Cause is a classic.
