Hello TL.
At the start of the year, my brother and I took a holiday around certain parts of Asia, and of course, one of our destinations had to be Sth Korea.
While I was there, I managed to catch a good chunk of GSL, but I'll add one or 2 photos of Korea for good measure.
Arriving in Incheon Int'l airport felt like I had stepped into the future:
note: Korea's winter is cold. With a temp high of -1 deg celsius during the day, there was no pretending that I was enjoying this weather while Australia had summer.
After finding our hostel, we headed out for the GSL (Jan 4th). We missed the Code A matches of that day, but managed to get to the Code S. Players that day were HongUnPrime.WE, oGsTheWind, SlayerS_BoxeR (!) and oGsHyperdub.
As you can imagine, the studio was fairly full that day, despite being stupidly cold. After the matches, fans seemed to be magnetically drawn to BoxeR like he was some kind of electromagnetic microing robot, I was no exception.
We scored The Emperor's signature!
After a the dust had settled, we managed to bug the two best english commentators in korea for a photo. (Actually, Tasteless and Artosis go around and greet any new foreigners which is super nice)
Day 1 complete.
The following days were also awesome (despite Ret getting knocked out of Code A). Tester went through, John did a clutch interview while Artosis was AFK, and we managed to score signatures of Artosis, Tasteless and John for my sister (who drew the fanart )
Ret being awesome enough to let us get a photo even though he got knocked out
Tester being interviewed
John's clutch interview, and Tasteosis's moral support
Autographed fanart!
The final day of our Korea / GSL holiday happened to be the first foreigner showdown between Jinro and Idra. Luckily, my sister had drawn some art for this, and a Korean friend of mine helped me print it on her lunch break.
The battles were epic, and the results even more so. It was foreigner victory day at the GSL. After the matches were over, and our heroes came out on top, I managed to score some more sigs and won the day's competition for best cheerful, the prize was a razer mouse which I gave to my sister because she drew the fanart.(apologies for blurriness of photos, I was using my phone this time)
Jinro interview
Idra interview
More autographs!
And that concluded our Korean GSL adventure. An awesome experience. This is how it is: you rock up to the studio, write your name on a card (for the raffle at the end), get given a pepsi / gatorade / mountain dew, a heat pack and some obnoxious noise making things. Then you go into the studio and take a seat and get into the atmosphere. It's all free. Then you get to meet your heroes and there wasn't anyone that was too busy for a photo or an autograph. This is what makes the SC community as great as it is.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed.
PS: Something to make you all jealous (and give me a banana grin every time):
