Zealot wall??

Over the past 2 or 3 days I've played probably 4 or 5 PvZ's where I do the zealot wall with the pylon and gateway, but every time I've done it the zerg manages to run like twenty zerglings straight past my zealot. Is anyone else having this trouble or am I doing something wrong?

You have to hit hold position with your zealot or else it will get pushed out of the way.

My guess is that you didn't hold position your
Zlot. And the wall is actually better with cyber and gate fyi =]

yeah a replay would be nice, there are certain placements where the hole isn't actually a zealot wide but is a zealot and a half wide, so that might be the problem.

Is this.... Starcraft 2?

Because if this is Brood War, you should remember that almost nothing is tight in brood war and I find it highly dubious that you can wall off a ramp with a pylon + gate + zealot

yes that space is actually more than a zealot wide, try moving your gate forward a square if you can, or making the wall with a cybercore and gate instead

Edt: Use hold position in the zealot and make it tighter, as poster above said.

A tip though: wall off with your gateway and cybercore instead of pylon, prevents baneling busts

yea that baneling bust tip is incredibly useful, not that many zergs do those anymore but some will if they see the opportunity its one of those small things that makes you win those rare games when that happens

HAHAHA, your opening is 2 spaces wide. Zealot only covers 1 space. You would need 2 zealots to cover that up. You could either move ur gateway one more space and then your stalker can't get through. However, when I play standard, I usually leave 2 spaces open and get 2 zealots. If your apm is good enough, if you see that they are bringing zerglings to ur base, you could build a pylon to take up another space and put ur zealot in that 1 space and have ur stalker shoot the zerglings.
A lock that opens to many keys is a bad lock. A key that opens many locks is a master key.

on the screenshot there is 1 (building grid) space open.
zealots can only cover 1 corner or 1/2 a grid space.
if 2 buildings connect on the corner of a grid space (like when you wall with gate and cyber) a zealot can hold.

hello, i'm having the same problem but my wall was only 1 space (i positioned gateway and core at the front).

i don't know what i'm doing wrong, zerglings just passed. zealot was on hold position.
