Hey TL'rs MapleFractal here, with another Blog on our journey with Mulder and Sculley into the unknown and paranormal. I would like to say how happy the amount of response my first blog got especially after a not so great Friday when I failed my A-Z license test(18-wheeler license). After returning home thoroughly inebriated from some friends house (also failed some all important accounting test, hence the alcohol) I was about to start responding to all of your posts, started to read them, got the spins and past out on the couch. Awakening to a slight hangover and an unusually messy kitchen(apparently I had gotten hungry), I cleaned my house up and decided to finally respond to you! I'll post them at the end of the Blog.
S01E02 "Deep Throat" - UFO's! A REALLY high Seth Green, the first "Plot Episode"
+ Show Spoiler +
So this is where the show actually starts in my opinion. The shadowy informant known as "DeepThroat" is introduced. He enters the washroom, locks it. Then with no salutation at all he tells Mulder that he should not pursue his current case, because the military would not tolerate the FBI investigating. And continuing to do so would expose himself and Sculley to unnecessary risk. When Mulder asks who he is, the man cryptically says he is someone who "Can be of help to him, and has some interest in his work" and that he "is in a position to know quite a lot about our government". One last time he tells Mulder to abandon this case, then disappears from the washroom.[image loading]In what we know is standard fashion, Mulder and Sculley would not be dissuaded. They depart for Idaho and begin their investigation by speaking to the women who had reported that the government had kidnapped her husband, a colonel and test pilot for the US-Air force. As the investigation continues Mulder and Sculley find themselves at the Air Force base witnessing two lights in the night sky moving unlike any aircraft of human design. A helicopter appears along with two kids running out of the bush(Seth Green), Mulder and Sculley catch up to the fleeing children and take them to a dinner where they interview them asking questions about the base. The next day they receive a call saying that Colonel Budahes had been returned, but when speaking with him it appeared that certain parts of his memory had been erased. Shortly after leaving the duo are almost run off the road, then stopped by two vehicles. Men get out, demand the agents do the same. They start taking or destroying all evidence collected and even assault Mulder in the name of "National Security"(funny how long this trend has been around in Western Culture) telling them to leave the next morning or accept the consequences. When discussing it further Mulder asks "They do it in the name of national security, I ask to secure what?" and speculates that these aircraft are man made but derived from alien technology(specifically Roswell Crash UFO parts). Sculley argues that sometimes the government has the responsibility to protect these secrets and that maybe they should just leave. Driven by his suspicions Mulder returns to the base and attempts to hike to "yellow base" where they hanger the aircraft, he reaches an air strip and one of the UFO's stops right above him and hovers. OUR FIRST UPCLOSE ufo!! YAY. Mulder is picked up by military personal and restrained shortly after the UFO darts away. They inject him with something and we see him being wheeled on a gurney through a hanger, one of the aircraft appears to be under construction behind a white curtain. Sculley mean while is attacked by the "local reporter" who is in actuality Air Force security. She bests the man, and at gun point forces him to drive her to the military base. Once there she informs them unless they want her involving ever media venue in the country investigating what was going on out there, they would give her Mulder back. He is released shortly after but is disoriented. Before leaving town they go to visit the wife of Colonel Budahas one last time, she says he is much better and wont let them speak with him. The conspiracy begins To close out the episode Deep Throat approaches Mulder again and we find out that part of his(Mulder) memory has been erased as well. Mulder asks if they(aliens) are here now, and he responds "They have been here for a very, very long time Mr. Mulder." and departs.

I absolutely love that episode because it really sets up the idea that the government not only knows about aliens and UFO's, but are involved with keeping it secret and creating technology from alien tech. We can also kind of look at it in respect to real life and how far our governments will go to keep what they feel is secret, and how it can be justified by saying National Security. Or the responsibilities a government has to keep potentially dangerous tech out of unfriendly hands. Interesting.... and this is 1993 guys! Deep Throat's sudden appearance with warnings to Mulder about his work shows that outside interests are watching even the FBI. With all the posts about peoples favorite episodes and ones that stood out in their minds as some of the most scary for them this one is mine. I can honestly say this one scared the crap out of me, and the whole idea that you always die in what would be a safe room terrified me as a kid. I wouldn't say this is one of the "monster of the week" episodes either.
S01E03 "Squeeze" Scariest episode imo, liver snatching satan santa clause
+ Show Spoiler +
The premise for this episode is that a serial killer is on the lose and Sculley is asked to help with the investigation. The deaths share no real commonality besides that they all died in an otherwise secure room(windows and doors locked from the inside) and they each had their liver removed by HAND(ewwww). Mulder's involvement in the case causes problems from the start because of his reputation and his theories regarding the case. We later find out that all of the evidence gathered by the current investigation matches with an X-File from the 1930's and 1960's and that a seemingly harmless man taken in for questioning could be the one killing these people, but how?[image loading]HAHAHA "seemingly harmless" and that's the picture I choose That guy not only looks fucking insane but he is terrifying as well. I mean he comes to your safe, secure house and stretch-man's his way inside down your chimney or vent, and then he stabs you with his hand and rips your liver out and eats it. Now imagine being 6 and watching this shit... Anyways, Mulder and Sculley continue to investigate Eugene Tooms as their primary suspect. They go to a building condemned 10 years ago and discover what appears to be a nest where this mutant hibernates. Eugene steals a locket off Sculley and signifies that she is his last taret before he disappears for another 30 years. Mulder's stakeout team is pulled without his knowledge and he returns alone to the den of the mutant and finds Sculley's locket and rushes to her apartment. Tooms is already there and trying to dine on Sculleys liver(i dont think if i had Sculley topless on the bathroom floor id try to kill her and eat her liver, but that's just me), Mulder breaks in just in time to help fend him off. Together they manage to handcuff him to the tub while backup arrives. The end of the episode shows Tooms in a cell under observation, he is already building a new "nest" for himself out of news papers. As he is given his meal through a small slot in the door, Tooms gets a devious look as he realizes that his imprisonment is only temporary.

I gotta say I had not anticipated that so many people would take the time to read and respond to my first blog, first I would just like to say thank you again. It encouraging to see that it is read by others and that they had good memories of the show as well. Since you took the time to read my blog and respond, I'll be doing the same for your responses. The reason I am responding in my next blog is I want to use TL's system to track my blog accurately and I am not sure that me posting many responses will achieve that. No real purpose just saw that TL did it.

btw I watched all of these with my dad growing up. Some of my fondest memories. He'd always whistle the theme and make himself + me a mug of chocolate milk and ice cream... odd I know but obviously I would enjoy it cause my dad made it.

I had a great childhood and this was a big part of it. Love that show.

the devil possessing the teacher episode was the scariest for me

One of the COOLEST was when they were in the forest and a lumber company cuts into a really old tree and releases neon green bugs that swarm and devour you in seconds but can't go in the light. So the entire episode is about them trying to stay alive in this distant camp running off a generator.

Another great episode is a similar plot only in a arctic research facility and the parasites were uncovered in the ice... flesh eating of course.
Me too! Neopolitan Icecream, and chocolate milk. That episode was really scary for me too, a teacher in my school looked just like that women just add like 50lbs. Just an evil bitch really lol. This episode squeeze is the one that really scared me when I first saw it. And id say the defining episode for me was and is "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man", I like conspiracy theories like who shot JFK, and Rosewell. That episode is the one I always think of when I think X-Files.

god did I ever love the X-files!

so many great memories for me too, and I have a few of the first seasons on DVD. I tried looking into getting the full box set but they don't sell them new anymore and the collector's edition are a long shot.

I also love hockey too! Me, you and Flaccid should form a club of X-files hockey lovers! Leafs fan here!!

edit: damnit now I feel sad; a new episode of the X-files back in the early days of the series used to air on Friday's on FOX. Nothing can fill that void tomorrow
Ive purchased all the seasons except 1 on Dvd too, they are like 20 bucks at best buy so I go down and pick them up now and then(SG-1 lately). That show was really cool forsure and TV on fridays wasn't the same when it was gone. However I did manage to fill the void last night with a bottle of Wild Turkey so there is hope! /braces for immanent flame/ Im a Red Wings fan dude :O I know I know , blasphemer. But Ive loved em since I can remember and Steve Yzerman(from ontario) is my favorite player of all time. BUT!!! I do and always will have a soft spot for our home town hero's the Leafs. Fuck do they suck, but we love them. If you can look past my heinous crimes Id gladly form a TL hockey club! BTW Canada ftw take that USA lol

I guess, but then its like... SG-1?? McGyver in Space not doing it for you? Startrek NexGen dood. Many many many good Sci-fi shows around then I thought.

I loved that show in the early seasons. Lost track of it around season 5 or 6 I think but bought the whole series as a large shoebox last year and was meaning to watch the entire thing sometime soon.
That's excellent man! All the more reason to join us in re-visiting the series, those two season are regarded as the best by a lot of people.

I rewatched like the first 6 seasons a couple of years ago. The seasons which focus on the conspiracies and government coverups (Season 2?) are my favorites.

The starting seasons were great, sadly the later ones weren't as creative/scary. I remember when I was about 14ish seeing an episode one day at my aunts' house where there was this monster living in a outhouse toilet and I was like whaaaaaa.....I gotta watch this. The little grey aliens also scared me. but as the plot moved on to clones and black blood, I thought the scariness died down.

I saw various episodes while it was airing, but only a few years ago committed to actually watching every single episode via Blockbuster online. Have to agree, it is an unmatched series. I think what I liked most about it was the chemistry Mulder and Scully had. You can't find anything like that on TV nowadays.

Scariest episode for me was the one where the guy's head would explode if he wasn't moving fast enough in a car. ha! I watched it when I was much younger, scared the crap out of me.

I think I can respond to all of these at once. I still love the opening seasons "monster of the week" feel with the conspiracy edge peppered in. I agree that the 5 and 6th seasons were probably the best and just because it dealt with a lot of story arch's that had been building for 5 or 6 years. David Duch...I mean Mulder leaving the show kind of made sense from a story perspective but IT SUCKED, I think it destroyed one of the most unique and possibly best "partner" team on television too. You rarely see male and female partners on TV let alone on a show as awesome as this one.

the freakiest episode i still get scared of is the one where scully is in the forest with a bunch of people and some thing is killing them off 1 by 1.

then mulder finds out that they followed scully back to her motel room or something and he was looking around and they couldnt find anything and they all left..

but then... the camera zoomed down under the bed and you saw these eyes!!!

OMG, ahh!!! and the episode just ended there. wow wtf..

does anyone remember which episode im talking about!?!?
It rings a bell, but I am not 100%. I look forward to getting to that episode!

X Files was cool but I don't remember very many episodes. I remember the one about an inbred family since there was some controversy over it or it was just hyped as being shocking or something.

And I remember the movies. I have much fonder memories of the show Millenium

Ahh that episode is one of the best too. Mutant inbred family that mates with the mother over and over again So damn spooky.

Millenium was good but tried to be the DARKER HARDER x-files basically. How did that end? Never watched it through it's entirety.

I only saw that episode once, and I still remember how they pulled the mother from under the kitchen sink or something and she was talking about how giving birth to her sons was no more difficult than making breakfast...
Unfortunately for me my parents letting me stay up to watch X-Files was a stretch enough that asking to stay up another hour to watch Millenium after was more then a stretch. The episode you guys are talking about is the first thing I thought of when I saw commercials for The Hills Have Eyes, haha funny how big box office movies can be linked in premise to X-Files episodes that were just twisted! Pwew! thats them all i think. Thanks for reading and responding and I'll talk to you all next time

See you all next time guys and gals

"Deep Throat" is all that brought me here and all I get is something about another government conspiracy "they're hiding the fact that aliens exists..." the universe is to fucking HUGE for there to not be any other life on planets besides Earth.

And if there was an alien race out there advanced enough to have developed space travel, why the fuck would they be stupid enough to travel across the galaxy to land here and say hi to a race that would first kill shoot em and then dissect them to "study" on an autopsy table like a frog.

I know "Deep Throat" from MGS1 which was the nickname The Ninja (Gray Fox) would say Snake should call him on the codec and that it has something to do with the informant on the 1972 Watergate scandal leading to the resignation of Richard Nixon.

Anyway damn you OP for getting everyones hopes up for an actual girl blog about deep throat ROFL

LoL Though I did not anticipate the massive troll the title is turning out to be, but it seems you decided to post without reading. This makes me sad panda, only because posts like yours derail threads all the time. To clarify its about The X-files (an american Television show), no real life conspiracy stuff here friend. I encourage you to participate but please read the blog to get context before doing so.

haha I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this blog! The X-Files rocks!!

Eugene Tooms was definitely scary when I was a kid. The second episode with him somewhere down the line or in season 2 was really good too imo.

Other scary episodes for me was that one with that guy who could control fire with his mind and the mutant flukeworm that was half man travelling around in the NJ sewage system lol. When I first saw that episode as a kid I was afraid to use to the washroom for a bit lol.

Deep Throat was one of my favourite episodes too because the of how well they nailed the eerie atmosphere of the episode.

YES! X-Files! My favorite TV show when I was a kid, even though I was a huge wuss and got scared easily. I just rewatched Tooms recently and I was surprised that I didn't get nightmares more often back then because of it.

"Home" was probably the scariest episode for me, though. That scene when the + Show Spoiler +
