Hi, in a never-ending search for new music I decided to ask for TL's help.
I'm looking for some desert rock/stoner-rock/chill-ass songs/love-making songs ()/Tarantino surf music like these examples. (They all have to do with Josh Homme :p)
(Check out the drummer, he reminds me of Barney from How I met you mother :D )
All qotsa songs for example, them crooked vultures, most desert sessions songs. You know... this kind of hypnotizing music.
I'm also looking for Surf rock as in Los Coronas, Iglu&Hartley, etc... And some good snowboarding tunes.
So yeah, does anyone know some bands/songs along the lines of these? I'm open to ALL suggestions.
Holy shit, the fact that the first response to a stoner music thread is Electric Wizard renews my faith in humanity. I absolutely love the Wizard, and everything to do with Josh Homme for that matter. Here's what I got:

I have a feeling that this isn't exactly what the OP was going for though...unfortunately. I dig the first piece, nice ambiance to it.
Nono those are good suggestions I was just in a more mellow mood when I made this blog though. There are tons of songs I could've linked here. Just thought I'd get more different suggestions if I limited the amount of songs .I want to expand on different genres. And yeah, I know about Kyuss, I just never started listening actually... It's weird. Going to check them out.
Edit: Maybe the blog title doesn't represent my request that well... Ah well... Care.
Maybe this doesn't qualify but I recommend Place of Skulls. Maybe not the most stonerish doomy shit ever but it's pretty heavy. They're also CHRISTIAN omfg
Kyuss is the Black Sabbath of the 90's. You might write them off as another heavy band, but there's a lot of finesse and groove in their playing, which you can't find in other bands of the same era.
I don't understand what Josh Homme was trying to do with Queens of the Stone Age though.
the band had a great first album, got signed + paid up front for their follow up, then spent all the money on amplifiers and weed, and turned in an hour long jam session about smoking weed with jesus. the record company was extremely pissed off and tried to not release the album / split it up into multiple tracks and mess with the production. the result was awful and it wasn't until 3 years later when it was unearthed and released in its entirety (almost) untampered with.
the result is probably one of the heaviest records ive ever heard, listening to it feels like being crushed by 10, 000 lbs of rocks, the experience even without any chemical assistance is in one word: righteous

holy shit 5 minutes into it now and i'm already recommending it to all my stonerock friends I absolutely second your description too, this is the heaviest thing I've ever listened to, but it's awesome.
edit: one hour later I feel like someone just vailed on my head with huge mauls for a good while, but somehow I found it a thoroughly enjoyable experience
I tried the "jerusalem" record on spotify first, but that sounded like shit compared to dopesmoker.
Holy shit! I didn't know this many people on TeamLiquid were into legitimate stoner metal. Pretty much everyone here who claimed to be into rock and metal listens to radio-friendly crap!
