So it's been 3 months since I started playing Starcraft seriously and I think it's a great way to see how much I progress by blogging it.
3 months ago I was clueless with how to micro and macro, the build orders and strategies that come with the game. Although I played SC in high school (around 10 years ago) I never got the change to persue it since was in FPS at that time. After seeing some vod on you tube I googled and search for sites which has alot of information regarding SC, lucky me I stumbled upon Teamliquid.net and liquipedia and I was set on the journey to enlightenment lol.
The first guide I read was Ver's How to improve guide. It was very informative and having little knowledge in competitive SC I learned alot. The one thing that stood out on the guide was always watch your own replay to see what you didn't have to do and what you've should have done to win. I then memorize build orders and watch tons for progames and replays.
So there I was having APM of 72 and bogus build order I played at iccup and I lose alot.. miserably..
Here's a reply that was played mid september: + Show Spoiler +
Luckily my friend also started playing SC again. He help me improve and played as my training buddy. My BO is quite ok and apm is at 110
Here's one of our game it was 40 mins. long played in early october: + Show Spoiler +
And now here I am on my 3rd month of playing. I think that I haven't improve much but I'm willing to work hard to become at least a decent player. Ave apm is 150
As of now this are my stats in Iccup: PVZ = 12-36 / 25% PVP = 2-11 / 15.4% PVT = 10-17 / 37% (alot came from my friend)
TOTAL = 24-64 / 27.3% in 88 games
Here are my recent games Last game I won: + Show Spoiler +
Last game I lost: + Show Spoiler +
Judging from my recent replay I know I still have a lot to learn. I know I should have won the last game I lost I guess I got inpatient and nervous. Well this is it for now. I hope if anyone reads this can also help me improve by sharing your insights and thoughts base upon the last two replay I've shared and I wish to learn a lot more here in TL.
thanks XD

<3 Keep playing :D wins in BW feel extremely amazing, especially if you are a starter like yourself. As long as you are having fun, that's all that matters right?

Hey we should play!

Yeah, amnesia....everytime i macro well in the first 10-15 minutes. i feel SUPER FRIGGIN GODLIKEEE!!!!
k, i watched the winning replay and my main pointers are (note, i suck as well and play z)
definitely build more gateways - midgame you could definitely use like 5-6 gateways (you had about 1000 mins and a lot of queued zeals)
incorporate dragoons as well - they deal with mutas (kinda), help you in attacking sim cities and they protect your corsairs from being scourged easier. lessoning corsair production would definitely help
attempt to scout more in the the phase before the corsairs come out and after your first probe dies. to detect the damned 2 hatch all in play. but yeah, most of the time it will be hard with many lings around
place this in the strategy forum and you'll get more help and advice : ) happy BW-ding

Ya i felt way better about bw wins than I do about sc2 wins. Even if you can stop yourself from constantly posting "Imba! sc2 needs THIS change!", it's hard to keep the thought out of your head. In bw you know that you outplayed the other guy. If it's on iccup, the opponent knows what he's doing and you still pulled through.

Beating a talented player in a straight up game produces a good feeling. Furthermore, losing to an amazing player, but recognizing what you did wrong and knowing you can fix it in future games is an even more satisfying feeling. My trials on iCCup were always frustrating, but looking back on them I was always having fun and enjoying myself. Man, I really need to play Brood War again.

I'm in a similar situation! I first started playing bw a little over a year ago. Over that time I read and watched a lot of games, practiced a lot of builds, played some friends and a few games on the ladder. This season is the first time i've played more than 50 games on ICCUP though, as I finally feel like I have the mechanics to at least keep up with my builds. After starting out 11-26, I've since then gone 16-19! D+ ftw.
Good luck to you!
