Hello!

I absolutely love Firefox. I love everything about it. It's my favorite web browser by far. But I use Google Chrome instead most of the time. Why? One specific feature that I cannot seem to find an add-on for, for the life of me, in Firefox.

In Chrome when you go to type in a URL into the address bar at the top, it auto-completes pretty instantly. For example, if I were to just type in the letter "g", it will change into "google.com" right away and all I have to do is press "g" then "enter" and I'm instantly at Google's homepage.

For Firefox, it's similar, but not exact. I have to press tab or the down arrow to get to whatever URL it's remembering. I know it's a really minor thing but I would love it so much if FF had it the way Chrome did for this.

Is there an add-on for FF anywhere at all that can make its address bar work like Chrome's does like that? I've looked on and off for months and have yet to be able to find it.

If I could find an add-on or something to make FF do this I will never switch back to Chrome ever again.

Thanks! ^_^

I know that works too, but, I'd prefer if it would fill it into the actual address bar when I'm typing. I've gotten so used to it that I really love it, and I'm hoping that FF can have it too. :c I know it's a really minor thing but it would be amazing if I could have it in FF.

Thats a minor thing, adblock plus is one of the main reasons that I love FF over other browsers.

there's an addon that allows you to link a letter(s) to an url. You can configure it the way you want, ex: type 'tl' enter leads you to teamliquid etc...
i'll try to find its name if that's what you want.

Adblock is in chrome too.

Chrome is awesome, I like it purely because it's has a very (seemingly) low overhead.

i'll stick to opera, which supports all of the features named above natively :p maybe give that a try

dunno about adblock though, i use a different, system wide solution for that, so i never bothered checking if my browser can do something like that. i know it supports something where you can disable certain content elements on specific web pages. however i don't know, how far these rules can be generalized.

Why do you need to go to Google's homepage? I haven't been there for ages, just do all your searching from the address bar - g something [enter]

couldnt you do this without an addon? just set a bookmark's keyword to "tl" or w/e.

chrome's adblock loads everything, then doesn't display the ads.
firefox's adblock doesn't load the ads, and therefore has no ads to display.

Meh found something kind of close

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8659/
you still have to tab-enter but its pretty nifty

This was the original but its not updated:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2300/

Oh and I love NoScript

just blocks everything :>

sometimes it gets annoying to right click and allow certain things but I don't mind~

Adblock in chrome is not as good as its firefox counterpart. The firefox adblock blocks flash ads (goodbye ustream/livestream ads!) but the adblock in chrome doesn't.

Google has been my homepage forever too. It feels like the "Beginning" of the internet, so it's fitting to have it as your homepage.

I generally never use the address bar, I have like 20 tabs with the sites I visit. Clickety-click!

EDIT: Not tabs, but those button thingies below the address bar.

This is what I do too.

I've actually switched from Firefox to Chrome and the only extensions I miss are Flashgot, and the mouse gestures, because you can't use any mouse gestures on a "New Tab" page. I find some extensions like Adblock Plus and NoScript extremely overrated.
