Cd Drive

So, I have had Broodwar in my CD drive for about 2 months now, without ejecting once. I decided to take out BW because I wanted to burn music. At this point I found out that my cd drive no longer reads any kind of CD. What is odd about the situation is that I no longer need BW cd even in the drive to play Single or Multi player modes. I have heard that the cd drive gets broken when a cd gets kept in the drive for too long. So basically my question is wether or not the drive is fucked, and if their is anything I can do other than replacing it at this point.

At one point, Blizzard released a patch that allowed you to play SCBW without the CD. (I think)

you fail at reading the op. You can try reinstalling the drivers op but you may be fucked.

idk about leaving cd's in the drive for too long, but i do know that cd drives pretty commonly die, ive had to replace a couple, its pretty cheap if you go somewhere like tigerdirect. probably around 30-50 bucks, no big deal. and i like the way blizzard and steam let you download the game clients so you don't need disks. a step in the right direction!

CD drives are rediculously cheap and all about the same standard of quality. The only real choices are between SATA and IDE, if you're still using that.
