You should always try. Trying never hurts. If you don't try, you fail 100% of the time. If you do try, you have some chance of success, and heck you might learn something. It's win-win. So if the opportunity arises again, just try. I hope you still have chemistry classes left. If you don't try, you're misrepresenting your nickname.
You are 100% right. Normally I wouldn't approach randoms and chat to them. But, if I see any link with starcraft, I suddenly don't care and will go straight up to them and start chatting. It's surprising how easily you can make friends when starcraft is the common ground.

Since you're beinga wuss, you should try a more subversive approach. Wear a wrinkled shirt to class next time and when she's in earshot say, "My life for an Iron!" and see if her ears perk up. Or pick up your cell phone with a hearty "Hailing frequencies open!"
Not recommended: "Wanna turn up the heat?" "Gimme something to shoot!" "We have you on visual." "Jacked up and good to go."

How do people manage to get away with playing StarCraft in class? Seems like all the noise from the keyboard would make things suspicious (could be typing, but it'd be awful continuous); and then add in the mouse clicking which would make no sense.
Seems like it would be obvious as hell. That said, I'd love to see someone in class playing StarCraft. I'd be talking to him/her immediately. It's always super easy to talk to someone when you have a common interest you can use to open.

The teacher might be hella impressed thinking whoever it was was sitting up there taking notes at 450apm.

Lol, thats how you realize you have high APM. The teacher realizes you aren't taking notes, because your typing faster than he can talk.

So to take notes ... you need to keep clicking the mouse a lot too ? ^^

It was a bit distracting when I'd see people playing WoW and Ultima Online in class.

Oh come on op! If the girl was playing it in class/b4 class, she obviously was trying to let people know she plays! You should have just said "Hey Do you usually play Protoss?" or something like that. Next time you see her you should mention the beta and see what she has to say about that lol Don't let the opportunity pass up again!
|
op you don't have to talk to the girl if you don't want to
|
next time you see her, bring your laptop, set it right next to her, and say "1v1. bo3 lets gogo gl hf." jk. Honestly though I have never seen a girl play starcraft before.

I've asked every Korean guy I've ever met whether they play or have played starcraft, so far 100% success rate! Don't know any girls though.
It's pretty much one of the first questions I ask, before all the unimportant stuff like their name.

The competitive players just seem the type that dont want any interruptions while playing.

wow you must suck pretty bad if you seriously said absolutely nothing to her about it lol FAIL
