I hope I'm doing this right... I'm new to the whole "blog" experience :o
So, as noted in the thread title I have a few beta keys to give away. I will be doing them one at a time as I attempt to think of ways to give them out that are somewhat creative and original (sorry, no "PM me for key" or "random drawing" etc. -_-)
So, to begin... I am in need of a logo for my SC2 website, and Mani has given me permission to hold a contest designed around it. As such, I will be giving away a beta key to whoever designs the winning logo.
First and foremost, the website will be www.stasysgaming.com and I am working on it as I type this. Mostly I will be hosting tournaments (US-based) with monetary prizes. I am also a map designer, and will be hosting my UMS and melee maps.
Secondly, I want the logo to be simple. I don't want something that took three weeks of blood, sweat, and tears to make. I want something more visually appealing than plain text, and that's it.
UPDATE: As far as fonts go, I'm looking for something that has a serious tone to it, and feels solid. The Battle.Net font is a good example. Had a few people asking, so here you go.
That being said, the terms and conditions are as follows:
One StarCraft II beta key will be awarded to the winner of this contest. The winner will be chosen by myself out of everyone who submits an entry before 11:59:59EST March 31st.
IN ADDITION TO THE BETA KEY, I will be hosting an SC2 tournament when the website is completed. Monetary prizes will be involved, and the winner of this contest will receive a seeded invite to the tournament, if desired.
The logo must consist of the word "Stasys", and may or may not include the word "Gaming". Nothing overly fancy. My personal preference is that simple is better.
The theme of the website is mostly black/gray (backgrounds)/orange(borders), though I can change this if I really like a logo that fits a different color scheme.
If you would like to submit an entry, please PM me your submission and make a post in this to verify (not required to post images in this thread, though you may if you choose to).
I will announce the winning submission on April 1st, and hand out the key that same day (no, this is not an early April Fool's joke).
As a side note, the next key will be given away via a Brood War tournament as soon as I get my website up. I will post more details as I get closer to completion.
UPDATE: Contest is over. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry; lot of good ones. In the end, I feel the design of the winning logo will give me the most breathing room to design a website around, though quite a few others would work too. But, there can be only one™ Grats Fibster~
Also, I will be jacking the Christmas Kangaroo logo as a temporary home page while I work on the site

Funny story... I was originally going to have an SC2 tournament to give away an SC2 beta key. *sigh*
Realizing how retarded I was, I decided on a BW tourney instead for the key, and an SC2 tourney for money.
I will be holding the BW tournament first, as I'm planning to give the winner of that a seed in the SC2 tourney as well. Hopefully I can get in the SC2 tourney the next weekend. The main thing I'm waiting on right now is a logo for the website and trying to decide on the best way to stream the tournaments.
If I had to take a guess now, I would say you could expect both tournaments sometime in mid-April assuming I have no holdups. I will probably release signups next weekend, once I finalize the tournament details.

Honestly, the ratio doesn't matter too much to me. The size, however, I'm not too sure about. I would say just make something as large as you can, since I can always scale it down to whatever size I need while keeping the original aspect ratio.
Also, I'm trying to keep some creativity in this. It doesn't have to bee a rectangle logo. I've left my menu design open to accommodate non-standard logo designs, so whatever you feel comfortable with.
In fact, I'd even go as far as saying a symbolic logo would be acceptable, too.

Just wondering is there going to be a contest that does not involve Photoshop or something? I understand this sounds a tad rude but i do not know any other way to word it. I can't afford photoshop right now and i really want a beta key.

You may submit as many entries as you'd like. I'm not going to hinder anyone's creativity by limiting submissions. Note that I will not be giving feedback, though. So you can't submit something and expect me to tell you "this definitely won't win" so you have a chance to modify it. Make sure each submission is creatively distinct.

I always hated contests that involved art, baking, etc. You know, things I suck at. Unfortunately this contest is something I'm forced to do, as I can't design a logo myself
To answer your question, yes. There will be more contests involving different skillsets. If you have a recommendation, feel free to PM me.

That's why I'm using Stasys instead of Stasis. I can copyright Stasys

Just an update... I will be going out of town starting tomorrow, and will not be back until Wed or Thurs. Sorry if I don't respond to any PMs during that time frame, as I'm not sure whether or not I will have internet access.
