HI GUYS @ TL. I've finally decided to shell out the bucks for a serious game system since the wii had absolutely no games come out for it that were any good. Problem is I can't decide whether to get PS3/360. I've looked at some comparing cites and I'm still at a loss. Since both the 360elite and ps3 are ~300 dollars, price is not much of an issue any more. Here are my thoughts so far:
PS3: Blue Ray Free online More Potential processor for future games For cross platform games, games have been encoded and may not run as smoothly
360: Lots of games Better online system "better" graphics ?? Have to pay for xbox live "better" exclusives ??
So, if you guys could tell me what you think; Share your experience of which game system you have/played/what you do with it. So far i'm leaning to PS3 because i'm a cheap ass who doesnt like paying for internet play and I dont know how many games I plan to own. A smaller library may not effect me as much as the casual gamer.
Personally, I feel the PS3 has a better gaming library. A lot of the better 360 games are also on PC and as an avid fan of RPG's the PS3 delivers in that category. All of my friends have 360's as well, so if I want to play any exclusives I have that option.
Buy a wii for sure. Best games ever. Wii resort is so fun. So is Animal crossing. You can even play flash based games on the wii cause theres a built in Opera browser in it.

I have both a PS3 and a 360 but if I was deciding between keeping one or the other; Personally I would go with PS3, it's easy for me to say that most games on 360 just seem somewhat choppy (Not a lot, but somewhat) in comparison to the PS3, but it's better to see for yourself before deciding.
I'd avoid consoles, save and get a high end computer. Every game I've cared to play has had a PC version that's always been said to be better then the console versions.
I have both and I'd recommend the PS3. Honestly, it's just a much more complete package (wireless, bluray, free online play, etc). The only downside of it being that there are less users online but I'm more of a casual gamer so even the $60 XBL annual fee seems like a waste for me.
If there are some 360 exclusives that you really want to play, that's the only time I'd recommend getting a 360. That or if all your friends have a 360 and no ps3.
Get the Ps3 Key reason: MUCH lower fail rate (xbox is infamous for red rings, even 2nd gen xbox have fail rates around 30-40% vs ps3 around 10%). Also, seems like they are working on a patch to make the Ps3 fully backwards compatible
Then there is... Blu Ray Free online ->***Uncharted 2***<- (seriously best game made in a long time)
If you don't mind the fail rate though... I guess XB's not bad

Any game with online play is over ratted without clans it's just full of annoying 12 year olds that scream and do stupid shit and are not friendly. Really xbox live is just a way to get you pissed off. I remember when only like a few thousand had xbox live it was good you join a game and people were older and nicer now the overall is to meaner and younger
its basically just about what exclusives you like more and if you are interested in blu-ray or not.
if for some reason you like halo, then 360 might be better
if you like good games then the ps3 is better

As most of you pointed out ps3 is probably the better choice, and I was also already leaning that way since the most recent price drop. Here are some of my turn on's/off's to help you get a better idea as one person suggested:
Turn on's: FPS RPG RTS (lol) Platform Party Strategy Action/Adventure
Turn off's: Racing Sports Games Simulation Bad Storylines
I don't know how true this is anymore, but my major concern was that @ the beginning of the launch the ps3's library had a high ratio of racing games and ETA games which look pretty but are not fun (for me at least). I say your comments have swayed me from 55/45 to about 78/22 in ps3's favor.
The one 360 exclusive i know id play is Fable2/3 - but I think giving that up for Uncharted2 (which i had to google), MGS, and Lair (just b/c of the starcraft reference) is worth it as long as ps3 isnt filled to the brim w/ bad games (see turn off's)
