Help with Counter-Strike:source

Hello everyone, this didn't warrant a new thread so I just wanted to make a blog. It's more of a help question to find what I need.

I've recently just installed counter-strike source on my laptop. It loads up fine and I get in the game, but once I'm inside the frame rate is really low and the game is just really choppy for me. I have like 40ish ping so I'm not lagging particularly badly but it's unplayable for me.

Does anyone know of any console commands I should use to help boost my frame rate or what ever is needed to make the game run smoother. I've turned down all the settings and it helped but it's still unplayable.

I did some searching online but only found some vague answers, and I'd rather know what I'm changing in the game than just type in some commands on a random website and hope for the best. Also don't want to fuck it up any worse than it is.

If I get it going, would anyone be up for a game? I'm pretty shite to be honest, just playing for a bit of casual fun.

so you're saying the game is running a lot worse than you expect it to? Maybe your laptop just isn't good enough?

Use the net_graph command and see how much fps you are getting. If it's anything below 40-30 it's you laptop brah.

doesn't always mean its his laptop, source games can be fucked up and run at 5 fps for no reason

what are the specs of your laptop?

Just googling for cs: source fps configs should be good.

Thats what I did back in the day when my computer couldn't properly run the original cs, fps configs can make a huge difference and if fps is currently somewhere around 20-30 you should be able to boost it to playable levels quite easily.

Ah, I used to have this problem all the time. I can't honestly remember what I did to fix it...Maybe I never fixed it (well, got a new computer). I still was good with ~10 fps though

If you want to play some 1.6 (which you probably can handle, computer-wise), we have been (or hopefully will be doing) some scrims on the tl vent. Just page me whenever rage is in the cs channel, and i'll tell him to move you in if we need 5.
