So when the PS3 Slim came out for the super low price of $299 I knew I had to have it. I didn't have anything to play at school, and just had to get me some of that Metal Gear Solid 4.
Well counting other games and accessories, it's become a $600 endeavor that I've enjoyed a lot -- until learning today that my father also purchased one for my family for this upcoming Christmas.
Not only that, but I'll probably be transferring schools and rooming with my friends in an apartment after next summer -- and they have PS3s as well -_-.
So basically, the only mentionable thing my PS3 is worth having for is the fact that I'll be able to play FFXIII the day it comes out while I'm at school next semester.
I guess though, looking back -- I'd still drop $600 to play FFXIII on day one anyways.
oh well, it's not like your PS3 magically disappears because it isn't going to be used as much, and you're still currently enjoying it, so I would say it's a complete waste of money.

consoles are like a long term investment man, not money wasted at all. Unless there was like some super awesome second alternative you had to give up to buy that
I don't think it's a waste. Now you don't have to fight with brothers and sisters at home or worry about your roommate hogging the ps3 when you both have one. Hah.
I always get bummed about resale value after buying expensive items. I bought a Canon 30D for $1000 in 2007, and now it's worth around $400 or so. I can't worry too much about it, it's just how life is.
I also only afforded it because of a bank error (yeah, monopoly style) in my favor.

well that's why i feel bummed, i bought it to entertain me for the long term, but it will be useless by the time summer hits =/
