Hey all,
Seems like my unit is being deployed to Kuwait in late 2010, gonna be hell preparing for this and all the stress that is coming with it. Good thing it's only a 12month tour and one of the safer areas of the middle east. Hopefully Starcraft can help me relieve some of this stress even though it quite far away I'm already stressing out about it >.<. My heart races just thinking about it. I won't be able to do things I love or be with the one I love for a year.. even though I do get leave time but still.. AND ITS RIGHT WHEN SC2 COMES OUT! (if it doesn't get pushed back ofc.)
On another note starting my ladder slowly this weekend because of drilling this weekend only 3-0 and I have to go to bed soon, up at 6am. My High goal is to ofc get that 48th spot but my lower goal is just make it to top 75-100. But at least its the last day of drill and i can mass game when i get home .

<3 ! Kuwait is a ballin place.
|
Why are you being sent to Kuwait? I thought there is a shortage of troops in Afghanistan?
|
That sucks dude, but why do you join the army if you don't want to be deployed somewhere? Isn't that what you should expect? I guess it still sucks and you just wanted to vent, but cheer up, I guess you'll appreciate the intricacies of life a little more afterwards.
And if you're not in the war-torn regions of the Middle East, it can't be thaaaat bad haha.
|
National Guard or Army reserve? Shit, I'd be nervous deploying with either of those groups too.
|
Good luck, stay safe
|
Lucky you getting deployed in one of the emirates. Good luck!

I don't think expecting has to do anything with wanting. Like, I don't think a cop is eager to find his next psycho with a gun.
And good luck to the OP.

It's just where my unit was picked to go.

Joined the military for the college benefits and much other benefit that they provide. It's not that I didn't want to be deployed, I had a choice not to go too, but i'm gonna need the extra cash in the future. and when i get back I'll start up a rocking new tournament .

But if a cop is going to get stressed out at the fact of possibly facing a psycho with a gun, maybe he shouldn't have become a cop in the first place...

National Guard <3 Yeah, that's what I figured which is reasonable. I was pretty certain you were joining it for benefits or something otherwise you wouldn't have been stressed out to begin with, as opposed to all the other "macho" guys who wanna go over and kick some muslim ass! But yeah, don't worry dude, you'll be fine!

Well damn Jeremy... I didn't know you were active in the military, I thought you finished up. Well, stay safe and be ready to get wrecked in SC when you come back!!! GL have fun if you can.

I don't understand why you're stressing out--I mean you should expect this from the start for joining the military in the first place and it was your own choice according to you just for fast easy cash. Instead of stressing out, you should be RELIEVED to get deployed to Kuwait and not Iraq or Afghanistan. As for Star Craft 2, just wait for the 12 months because it's never too late to play a game because I know that you'll be alive to come back to play it, I mean have you heard of a soldier that died in Kuwait in the news? I didn't. I don't know how life is like in the barrack when you get deployed, but I assume they would allow you to use the internet in some ways, so you can always surf the net for some Star Craft 2 VODs to watch. Anyways, just don't stress out and be happy that you're going to Kuwait. I'm sure you'll learn alot of interesting things there. Lastly, watch your back, take care of yourself, and stay safe.

Bigsack that was one of the worst posts I ever read. I rarely post but this is something I need to address.
How about a simple analogy. Why become a student and endure countless hours of stress, sleep deprivation and intellectual critique from fellow students as well as professors? I mean everyone expects this from the start, but then why do i hear so many students "bitch." They should just not go through school to begin with.
Fast easy cash? You're so fucking wrong. It is one of the hardest paycheck's one will ever end up receiving, do you even know how much backbreaking training is thrown at you? And the constant small voice telling you you're fiddling with death? They leave you physically exhausted and emotionally worn out. At the end of the day you're just a number.
And you do know soldiers head to Kuwait for two weeks of training before they get deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan right? what a BIG RELIEF for him afterall. Rofl you assume he can use the internet to watch sc2 vods at Kuwait... but you simply choose not to assume anything else that might be relevant.
He's going to be fuckin going through HELL for his country and you're pretty much telling him to stfu and take it like a man because he chose that route.
You need to grow up quick and realize what you say/write might have abhorrent affects on others.
Anyway good luck, keep your eyes open, and stay alive. And I thank you for serving our country.

Anyway, whatever the purpose, I hope you find your tour meaningful.

haha dude, you think the national guard is going to put him through hell? I've been to the army bases in kuwait, it's a fucking vacation. When we were sitting in tents in the middle of the desert the national guard was sitting in the pool drinking starbucks. They have beer bongs in the enlisted club. I also see them doing physical training in the mornings. You know what that consists of? It's a bunch of fat guys that walk whenever they don't feel like running anymore.
Yeah, real hard time he's going to have.
