looks pretty much exactly like my turf burn i had on my elbow a couple weeks ago when the scab came off. neosporin and time and you should be fine imo.
doctor if this happens:
Change in color of the burnt area or surrounding skin
Purplish discoloration, particularly if swelling is also present
Change in thickness of the burn (the burn suddenly extends deep into the skin)
Greenish discharge or pus
Fever

alright thanks guys, i guess ill just stop putting stuff on it and keep a close eye on it the next few days. and for those who were asking i got it from a dirtbike muffler.

Anyway to the op - go see a doctor. Can't really tell by the photos. Somewhat concerning is some erythema which appears to be extending ?distally vs proximally - especially if its overlying a joint like the ankle. The fact that it's located close to your ankle (which also happens to be swollen and painful) and that there's redness around it indicates that you should go see a doctor. It's likely that you need oral antibiotics at this point (especially with the swollen ankle), not topical OTC stuff like neosporin, and the only way you'll get that is from a prescription. Seriously, what's the worst that could happen (other than them amputating your foot)? -.-

If you have pain in the ankle, which you feel is related to the burn, but can not understand why it would physically occur, then you MAY have an infection.

People have said to stay away from water... I don't think you necessarily have to. Obviously stay away from dirty water (rain, puddles, rivers, lakes, ocean, etc.) but the tap water has tons of chlorine in it in the US (your profile says you're from here.) so I think it's safe. The thing is after every shower or w.e, I think you should rework the burn (apply antibiotic cream again, and then cover up with bandages (not the sticky ones, the other ones that are like very loosely knit clothes (i dunno wtf u call it.) If after taking a shower the thing got all soft and there's a piece of skin or w.e it is hanging off, it's usually better to cut it off with scissors. That cover of dried crap is what your body makes to protect the wound, but if you put bandages on it, it's actually better if you don't have it as it may keep too much moisture from getting wet, and removing it also allows to apply w.e you're using directly.

As for your ankle, try different movements with it and monitor the pain/how it feels if it's getting worse I think going to the doctor would be the best choice, unless you find a piece of credible information/research online which says that it's a natural part of healing a burn such as yours.

Unless it's already infected, keep cleaning it well and applying nerosporin, of course, and KEEP THAT THING WRAPPED UP. Until it heals well enough, you don't want exposure on it.

That's not pus dude, it's plasma/clear fluid. Haven't you ever scraped your knee really badly? That's what happens when you scrape off a layer of skin. He never mentioned that pus came out, it's just clear fluid that helps form a scar. Swelling in the ankle isn't surprising either because it looks like a big scar which would obviously affect the surrounding areas.

And you shouldn't be worried about shit lol it's his problem not ours.

so the swelling went down but the burn isn't really healing over and it's been a week. i guess that's normal because of how big it is though. i've been putting some neosporin on it every once in a while (if i'm doing something where i think it could get dirty/infected) and wrapping it up sometimes too.
