Today, I was happy to witness a battle between (Z)(nl)Ret and (T)(us)Artosis. It came out of the blue: Ret fought another flawless battle against another brave opponent, when our-favourite-Terran wrote his challenge message by using PM. Could The Cerebrate toss away such opportunity? Of course not. As I was watching the struggle (from Ret's perspective, of course), I tried to capture some highlights for you. Here you go!

Set 1 (Python):

+ Show Spoiler +
Ret at 8 o'clock opened with 12Hatch into Spire. It soon turned out that Artosis spawned at 6 o'clock, making the game a 'neighborhood' battle. Though it wasn't revealed, I'm pretty sure Terran went for 2Rax into CC build. Ret initially responded with gang of Speedlings that watched over Artosis' natural entrance. Those 'dogs' ate 2 careless Marines, which completely discouraged M&M counter, thus allowing Ret to skip some Sunkens and get 3rd Hatch in 1 o'clock main even before Spire was finished. The timing turned out perfectly, and Zerg ended up with 9 Mutas harassing the enemy left and right. Artosis' turrets were slightly off-time and Ret's clever maneuvers abused the difficulties infantry groups have when moved through ramps. With instructive micro, Zerg sniped full-control group of Marines, as well as some SCV's, few Turrets and Starport. This violent attack bought him a lot of time to power-up economy at 3rd base and swich to Lurkers. After using Mutas and Lings as defensive screen against Marines, Ret marched with 7 Lurkers into Terran natural, catching off-guard poorly positioned Tanks and forcing GG.

Ret vs Artosis 1-0

The second game was even more interesting.

Set 2 (Python):

+ Show Spoiler +
At 6 o'clock Ret again used 12Hatch, this time without immediate Overlord scout. Yet, his Drone after long trip found Terran who's been finishing 1st Barracks. Artosis' initial Marine inflicted some damage to Drone, but Ret managed to keep it alive long enough to plant a manner Hatchery in opponent's natural. Amused with this, Artosis went for more Marines instead of early expo, which actually paid off a bit, when Mutas arrived. This time M&M's horde caught some intruders in the middle of their dirty job and sniped. However, Artosis was once again unable to inflict any damage on Ret's expos and Swarm went unharassed into the moment he had bunch of Lurkers. Finally, Terran pushed out with Tank support, but after two beautifully executed attacks he was caught in the middle first and pounded at his choke second time.

Ret vs Artosis 2-0

At this point, Ret took a little break and watched Artosis' game against some other Zerg. I have no idea if they played again today.

Some images below:

What's up Marines?

Yes, that many Lurkers!

Your Marines Art are great and I'll let you finish...

well, though I respect artosis's efforts, I'd rather see games vs other B- people because they'll be more interesting to watch. He challenges ret a bit too often while he's streaming.
Obviously ret can play whoever he wants, I just like to see more challenge in the games.

Artosis is obviously no challenge is Ret is dropping manner Hatcheries on him, he isnt taking it seriously and knows he can win even if he messes around. Anyone agree or disagree?

BTW, Nice comment iNcontroL
Why would you ever choose failure, when success is an option.

There's no doubt that Ret's a better player, but that sure as hell doesn't take anything away from Artosis, given Ret's epic awesomeness .

Artosis takes games off ret more than you would think. Just because he dont stream it and run around handing out replays dont mean he isnt good. He just does not care what everyone else thinks.

nobody is saying artosis is bad and cant beat ret no matter what. I know that he's quite good.
At least my point was that ret is still considerably better, and the games would be more entertaining to watch games vs other people on iccup that are rets rank in general.
Also, if what you imply is true (artosis beating ret more than we think), why don't we see that happen very often every time ret streams, and why do the games in general look somewhat one-sided?

And I'd like to bring out once more that I don't want this to be artosis bash blog in any sense at all. I'm just bringing out what I'd personally rather see.

Doesn't he have a winning/even record against you on Iccup? Also, he did get A- last season so if you considered that bad then I don't know what is good.
