Well, some people with 300-400 posts have contributed greatly to the community (Suspense for example), but new users with under 100 posts just should not have to change their name. Under 100 posts, its not worth the mod's time. | ||

Edit with a clarifying question: is the "don't bother if you have 500 posts" thing in the OP indicating that they won't change the name of users with more or that they won't change if you have less? edit2: My name change won't make people not recognize me on the forums, can my nonqualification be ignored? | ||

They usually don't change the name of people with over 500, simply because during those 500 posts you build a reputation after yourself, if you change your name people won't assume to relate that previous reputation to you. EG. When Frozen`Arbiter changed his name to Liquid`Jinro, not many people knew he was FA until they either saw his post with the red probe or read it in an announcement/whatever. In your case, it shouldn't be a huge problem though. | ||
