BH now that your campaign has been revealed do you still want me to respond to you? Also regarding your 'lynch kush' platform...call me slightly egocentric but it first seemed to me that it was meant as some sort of bait for me (and maybe others) considering you know very well what my stance on kush is (in which case I'm not entirely sure what you would have hoped to gain from such a bait---maybe just a read on me?), and then I received your PM so I'm going to assume it was solely a conversation starter because you know very well in all the time I've ever campaigned against kush it never goes my way, and all of the times you've ever campaigned for policy it never goes your way. DrH's entry and campaign is extremely strong, I'll give him that. I am withholding my vote until I see what the choices are and who else is going to attempt to seriously run and how the day progresses. DrH can I ask you specifically about your 'pressure hammer' strategy: how do you expect to deal with Suspect 'C' regarding pressuring them if they avoid you if they simply fuck off and don't return, rather than attempt to give you a defense and fail? | ||

I would think that you should. I'm not entirely certain that it will be enough in this game for the mayoral role to go to someone people believe/assume is town alone---it may be important that the role rightfully goes to someone who will effectively get scum lynched; that is, someone with strong reads and convictions but who will also be able to defer to the town and/or take advice when necessary. I am actually interested in other people's thoughts on this matter: would it simply be enough to give the mayor role to someone who was theoretically confirmed town but may or may not use the role to great effect? And another question specifically for you, Mocsta. I am currently in contact with somebody who believes that you may be trolling with that vote. Is that true? | ||

I was thinking of entering the thread announcing my candidacy for the mayorship but at this point with the withdrawal of DrH, replacements showing up and more people adding their names to the running I don't feel it would be a beneficial choice right now. Yamato I'm thinking of going with you tomorrow. | ||

I had originally thought (and confided to my current PM-buddies) that I shouldn't run because my scumreads are generally not particularly good on D1, but then I remembered a few things. Worried about not using the power properly, worried about a bad read and effectively solo-lynching town causing them to turn on me and waste more time, etc. A combination of this realization (and maybe a bit of an ego/power trip remnant from last night's Voice Mafia games) made me think that it's long since time to ditch that attitude. I've been playing on mafia for long enough that I should be more confident in my abilities and stop falling back into bad habits (like conspiracy theories, my constant wrong reads on newbie players). I should play to my strengths, such as the fact that in nearly every game I can think of, I am very easy to read and despite having detractors and people who will always be suspicious one way or another, I am always considered town by the majority by D2 at the very latest. Whereas in the past I have been content on D1 to sit back, call people town and wait for scumreads to fall into my lap on subsequent days, through discussion with people in PMs I believe I have some scumreads that are evolving quite nicely and I have at the very least a couple people that I would feel comfortable lynching right now. I know I am town, I am confident in my abilities to confirm myself as town to the doubters, and I am also confident in my reads. I would not let this town down as its mayor. It's not the best platform around, and especially now that there are more and different players running for office (despite the instilled confidence, I still believe some of these players are better than I am; I'm not naive) I am completely comfortable in giving up the chance---however the confidence will remain. | ||

The rest of his filter (and he HAS one, unlike others) was shitting on the main and strongest mayoral prospect and talking about how he can't PM. I would be curious to know what interactions people have had with him in PM/IRC-land because I have spoken to people with conflicting reads here. It is my belief that such an entry into the thread, not offering anything particularly useful other than the offering up of mayoral candidates that can widely be accepted as 'good players' if they decide to run is nothing more than a safe and neutral play under the guise of effort, a perfect scum opener. The rest of his filter does not lead me to believe he has town's best interests in mind (despite some people currently agreeing with DrH not being the best mayoral prospect, including DrH himself) as he promoted negativity without offering something positive and realistic in return. Also now that marv HAS announced his potential candidacy I would like to see how he will react. | ||

I do agree with your sentiment, and we DO tend to work very well together marv, but you also know how naturally untrusting I am, and without the rest of the thread to tell me not to be paranoid about you (if you ARE in fact townin PM-land, I'm not sure how useful it would be---in my mind it may simply open myself up to be manipulated even more. That being said I would love to discuss reads with you if you'll send me a PM, just keep my current attitude and reservations in mind. For similar reasons to the above as well, I would not currently be comfortable voting you for mayor. | ||
