Best of 3 in all rounds. Once Round of 16 is reached the matches end, and the 16 players then move to stage #2.

A map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player (seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

Nerchio not seeded ? oO

VortiX only seeded for stage 2 ?

Is it chosen arbitrary or by some sort of ranking ?

I think Nerchio doesn't want to go to China.
He isn't going to MLG, not going to Korea, so...

He conquered Europe and it seems to satisfy him... for now

He got 2nd in the last Polish ESL Pro Series.

On that note: Only about 7 hours left to sign up!

I hope anyone from the admins sees my calendar-request so the qualifiers are getting listed.

When is this starting?

Edit: apparently it's currently ongoing (watching Fuzer).

Is there an official stream/caster?

there is: http://de.esl.tv/channel/thaticicle/

this is ridiculous. ESL used to be the biggest league of the world. now their stream of the only chance for europeans to qualify for an IEM stop is having 100 viewers and hardly anybody knows about this. Also the players don't really seem to know about it. Not so many good players attending...

Well only 5 people will qualify in the end.
Looking at the players in stage 2 and 3 i am sure we will get some great representation for europe.

still, I think there are some more who lost their chance to qualify. where is xlord for example? or krass? or roof? and its not only about good representation for germany (there might not even be a single german representative). its about all the other nations also.

and most importantly its about the lousy coverage. it cant be in the interest of the ESL to have that few viewers. thats what they should make a good amount of money with and get even more sponsors... And as it seems now that Yello vs Monster game will be the first and last on that stream, since round 2 should be played out in a few minutes already...

Normally I post TL calendar events, but i've been ridiculously busy lately what with the recent IEM and then the Berlin Campus Party thing (only got back yesterday, so i'm taking a little break)... I was assuming someone would have done it but.. I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: Sorted in terms of TL Calendar. Thank you Heyoka and Pholon.

Well the news was out for 3 weeks now.
Enough for teams and managers to get hold of dates and stuff. If I as a fan can track this, anyone else can.

However, committing for a week of travel to china is not a small undertaking and not too many players or teams are willing/able to take on the adventure.

ESL pays some of the travel expenses. I don't know how much exactly but every play qualified gets some money when he shows up in China and that definitely helps to support the players.

Edit: Also I shouldn't have trolled Monster in the 2nd game. Veeeeeeeeeeeeery bad idea.
Just ahead of time, know your addiction's not a crime. It's just a smaller part of who you want to become in the end.
