The Deathadder doesn't fall in the ambidextrous category.

You can remove the LED permanently. There's a single screw under the big teflon foot (peel it of gently with a thin knife) and unplug it. Problem solved. Takes about 5-10mins.

When it comes to small fingertip / claw grip mice, I feel that people are often overlooking CM Storm Xornet (reincarnation of Spawn). No drivers, 3 dpi settings - 500/1000/2000, good optical sensor - Avago ADNS-A3050 - Omron switches, mechanical wheel encoder. It's not ambidextrous tho. It doesnt? It has options in the driver for left handed mode etc

Edit: There is also a lefthanded edition

Yeah but it's not about whether or not there's a version for either hand. Some people just don't like ergonomically shaped mice and that's what I'm assuming when someone's asking about ambidextrous mice.

You mean like the Deathadder, which has one of the best sensors on the planet?

Not small, not ambidextrous ;p

Kinzu v2 Pro - Great Shape, but a sensor that is apparently not on par with other mice. Yet still costs ~$45.

Yarr the quest for a good small mouse is a testing one indeed. I've settled on the Logitech G300 but many have a problem with its shape and / or have an aversion towards off-centered sensors.

Never tried the mico but apparently it jitters at 1600dpi and suffers from build quality issues (hard to push buttons, buttons that get over / under each other, wheel that starts squeaking / ceases to work relatively quickly...) .

Kana seems decent but it has TTC switches and the same Pixart sensor as the kinzu v2 pro.

Azurues mini seems to have prediction and it has a 20g weight inside (?!). You can remove it but you might void your warranty.

Then there's that elusive Logitech G100 which looks pretty good but is only available in Asia and seems to jitter at higher dpi settings.

It is small but very heavy compared to other small mice, even heavier than the big Deathadder. And it is quite wide, which does not really make it viable for fingertip grip.

I feel like the Kinzu v2 Pro has the perfect shape in my opinion, if it only had a good sensor in it then it would be great.

Haha or they could just make a decent small mouse. But I like their business model... Make one with a good sensor and one with a good shape. Then people will have to buy 2 mice to build their own for a good small mouse. Genius

Anyone using a sensei? Does anyone know of something like a razer mouse bungee for use with it's braided cord? Thanks.

I use a Sensei with the Razer mouse bungee. It's pretty hard to get the cord in/out of the bungee because it's so thick, but it's possible. Another option is the Roccat Apuri, where the cord holder is flexible rubber so it works better with the thick cord.

I currently use the Razer Naga (vanilla edition, bought it 2 or 3 years ago when it came out) and I feel like it is becoming rather unreliable (cannot tell if the mouse is actually just malfunctioning periodically or if it has something to do with a bit of dust on the sensor). Razer products in general tend to be a little bit unreliable in general, and I was wondering what mouse I should consider to replace it.

To give an idea as to what I am looking for, I use a Filco Majestouch, the most sturdy, simple, reliable keyboard ever lol
I basically just want a mouse that I can customize to some extent (CPI, don't give a shit about macros though), that is extremely reliable/precise (no jumpiness, no double click issues), and is really durable.

Currently looking at the Sensei but I cannot tell if it is an upgrade.

My deathadder just died out of warranty, I'm thinking of going to a g400 instead of spending another 50 bucks on a new DA. The mice look pretty similar, both physically and specs. Thoughts?

Unfortunately I've never tried the DA but I do own a G400 and I find it phenomenal, definitely one of my favorite bigger sized mice along with the much maligned 4G imperator (sue me :p ). It is cheap, comfortable with nice rubberized sides; and it tracks flawlessly.

A nit-picky purist would tell you that its only native cpi settings are 800 and 3600 and that the tracking may not be as good using other cpi settings, but that's something I've never noticed at 1300 cpi.

I'd say you can't go wrong with the G400.

Tried the Xai/Sensei? same kinda shape just with side buttons with a laser sensor. The Kana looks cool too (I believe Kana is optical though).

the Zowie Mico is what you're looking for. IMO, it's the best mouse on the market right now. It's a simple 3 button ambidextrous mouse, its light as FUCK, probably the lightest mouse on the market at 68grams, it's only 98mm long, and it costs $35 (USD) which is really cheap for the quality. It has 3 dpi settings (400, 800, 1600) but it's totally plug and play, you just switch the dpi by holding down both mouse buttons and rolling the wheel. I've been using one for quite a while now and it's honestly the best mouse I've ever used, hands down. It's like an upgraded logitech mini optical. i haven't made the switch to mechanical keyboard yet, I'm still stuck on a pair of the old DT-35s, but definitely glad i switched to a diff mouse. It's definitely an rts mouse at heart in my opinion, and its cheap so id recommend anyone looking to switch mouse who uses fingertip grip to check it out. If you use palm grip, you don't play rts anyway, i dont think ive ever seen a serious pro/competitive rts player sit his whole damn hand on a mouse lol.

Not that it matters and not sure if this is true, but supposedly the mouse was developed with help from the StarTale house? anyway I'm really skeptical of "gaming" products and after a short stint sponsored by razer like 4-5 years ago I have avoided them like the plague, so if i'm giving this a bump, it's damn good. and it's not trying too hard and all full of fucking buttons and flashy lights like razer shit.

also, it's optical sensor instead of laser. I know laser sounds cool, but i've used both and laser is terrible. it's not because it performs worse per se, but the sensor covers 5% of the surface area; a laser sensor hits like a pinpoint size of a mousemat, whereas an optical sensor hits an area closer to the diameter of a cigarette. the problem with the laser sensor is if a tiny particle such as a hair or something gets caught across the laser beam, the cursor spazzes out/stops moving and you have to turn the mouse over and blow on it to get the obstruction out of the way of the tiny beam. I've had this happen during tournament matches while using a razer copperhead.. never happens with optical.

anyhow, tl;dr, the mico kicks ass is cheap as shit and its tiny and wicked light, def the best mouse around for sc2/rts in general. dont get suckered in by all that flashy expensive "gaming" bullshit and drop a benjamin on something that is heavy as fuck, has features you dont even need and will probably give you problems down the road.

Roccat - Kova[+]

this mouse handles really well, and because its design is symetrical you can use it with your left hand as well as your right hand. it has colored lights, the colors can be chosen in the driver, which also allows you to switch between 400 ; 800 ; 1600 and 3200 DPI

only minuspoint for this mouse is actually that the mouse wheel breaks really easily, but if you don't really need it it should be a great mouse

Anyone know how to convert the old razer driver settings to this Synapse stuff? For example, converting the old sensitivity settings to these new 100 step DPI settings. I just want my old setup. Here is what it was:

Also, I see no separate settings for the windows cursor compared to in game cursor. If they changed everything so drastically, they should have given us a way to easily move over our old settings.

Do you actually want the new settings options? If not, just use the old drivers. Why fix what isn't broken? That's what I ended up doing after fighting with the new Synapse stuff for over an hour and having issues with it. Lots of sites still have the old drivers available. I'm using a set from early 2011 and it works just fine.

Driver Ver 3.03, Firmware 2.45 works fine. For the record though, you are set to hardware 1800dpi, using *0.6 multiplier on sens, so 1080dpi effective, if you are setting in 100 steps. I didnt hear of these new drivers, il check them out now.

edit: Seems only Synapse and Localization support, no reason whatsoever to upgrade
