I hope that this NDA doesnt lead into Gretech getting away with ridiculous demands to which KeSPA can't awnser. Without an NDA KeSPA can atleast complain if its the case and show the fans whats going on, to rally their support.

Is the Ministry of Esports in on this? I mean, are they aware of what the negotiations entail? If so, this new body of rule can make thngs more reasonable.

Hmm.... I was hoping KeSPA to rebel and ignore into Blizzard/Gretech demands and somehow win in the courts of their freedom from Blizzard IPs rights.... but it seems that won't happen and KeSPA took the easy way out.... unless they're planning something else....

But after how much Gretech has been emphasizing that it's making decisions independently of CJ, I don't think they'll be carrying GomTV's programs on cable so easily.

Plus CJ won't necessarily make channels available to Gretech just because Gretech is owned by them...Gretech is a pretty tiny part of CJ's holdings.

Well if this source is reliable then maybe CJ does see big things in it. We'll see.

CJ has been holding all the power since Gretech obtained the exclusive license from Blizzard. It's a matter of how much CJ wants to maintain the status quo and how much they believe in/will invest in "new media" (what an old term!). Both Ongamenet and GomTV are trivial parts of its enterprise, unless they see them as future growth prospects or potential disruptors, it's probably no big deal to the CJ head office.

However, the entire professional Brood War scene exists to provide a relatively low cost method for the sponsors to promote their products. (Well almost all cable television can be summed up like that.) With that in mind, Kespa really has been there to serve the interests of the sponsors by doing its best to keep costs low (limiting player and other costs) and maintain the audience by providing a sense of fairness and professionalism (which they don't always succeed at). The Kespa vs OGN/MBC saga shows that Kespa represents the sponsors primarily, moreso than the broadcasters. By extracting a licensing fee for the rights to "Proleague", the sponsors' costs were slightly reduced, and by somehow managing to assert the rights in the first place, the sponsors (well, "Kespa") were no longer locked into dealing with OGN or MBC.

The current question now to me is how does CJ view its fellow sponsors represented by Kespa and the current structure of the scene? If CJ is happy with how things are, the sublicensing terms Gretech ends up agreeing to will probably be relatively favorable for OGN, MBC, and Kespa and things will continue the way they have, and Activision Blizzard was suckered by CJ/OGN/Kespa, if the Gretech deal wasn't too costly. If CJ (with OGN) decides to shift the balance of power, they could too, but I don't think it'd be good PR for whatever advantage they decide to grasp. The last possibility is that Gretech, OGN, and CJ are really acting like independent entities...but given the general South Korean business structure, I doubt this is the case.
