Im going to be there for at least some of it. I'm actually creating a starcraft 2 ponies mod right now. The goal is to be able to play a fully balanced melee race of ponies that can fight against any of the other races. Right now the map is playable but not complete, as we dont have the models and all of the abilities programmed into the map yet. On one hand my team could use some help with the mod, so if you are a good sc2 modder, a 3d modeler, a voice actor, or a good artist, we could really use your help.
Also, there's currently a debate in my group in how to frame these pony models with respect to how much technology they should have. While this debate wont effect balance, it will change the models that you play with. So, basically, do you want the ponies in the mod to have more technology that is shown in the show, or do you want to stick to the show as a basis for the tech.
If we give the ponies the same amount of tech as in the show, you can see things in your mod that come directly from the show. For example, we do plan to have earth ponies firing apples like Applejack did in Dragonshy, and weather ponies will fire lightning bolts at the enemy and turn into tornadoes. This will make the mod more realistic, given that we want this to be located relatively close to the time period the show is in, and we dont want the ponies making unrealistic technological gains. We are planning on making a campaign after this, so the tech level of the ponies will need to be realistic in that the campaign is set 4 years after the show. This will also make the mod be more true to the show, but might make it look slightly unrealistic to put the ponies on the same level as the terran, zerg, and protoss. On the other hand, magic and pegasus ponies do make it possible for the ponies to stand up to the zerg.
If we went with advanced technologies, we could preserve the current game's appeal to its current player database. The game takes place in the future using hyper advanced tech, the enemies faced will be armed for war, and as such it might be better if the ponies should be too. The advanced tech looks cooler for some people, and celestia would want more advanced tech during a war they want to win. If Ponies were more advanced they would fit into the environment of the game, and the foes they are facing.
