Publix.904 Despite there being another thread specifically about this, how do you all feel about DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell) finally being officially repealed? I figure a little bit of discussion belongs here similar to when NY legalized gay marriage. For me it seems like it's certainly another step on the way to equality and is keeping the momentum of gay rights activists trucking forward. A good day for us LGBT members, troops or otherwise. | ||

It meant that while there was a specific rule against being gay in the military, your officers and others couldn't directly ask you if you were gay and you wouldn't be given a dishonorable discharge unless you told someone. Basically, you had to live in fear of people finding out or risk a stigma following you forever every time you applied for a job. | ||
