I'd rather have that than the generic PR statements no sane person believes in anyway. I disagree, it's not like elfi asked them for a work certificate or anything, there is no reason to comment on his performance like that.

Unlike other posts when players leave teams with random statements that mean nothing. At least this makes it clear elfi didn't live up to expectations.

We are not big team, obviously we can't afford so expensive players like elfi to underperform and not achieve at least some goals that we set up together. Maybe bigger teams can, we can't. Yes, elfi was probably our best player (togehter with LZ), but you must be aware that we have different expectations from different players, aswell they have different contracts with salary and with different benefits, which are competent with their skill level, results and other stuff. Otherwise elfi is great guy, hard working, and very friendly, and after all he understands our situation and our need to make this move that we made well, so i don't see such need for inappropriate comments or hatred towards us. It is just business and financial decision from our side, from which point we must move on. Be that as it may, be careful about how you release news of releasing a player, when you do it this way, and for that reason it usually just always sounds bad. I agree with most on the matter anyhow.

A cleaned up version of a post like this would've been a much better way of announcing elfi's departure.

While I agree to some degree, it's just bad PR for them as an esports team, because contracting a player for 4 months and releasing him after getting no results doesn't exactly make them attractive as employer as it puts players under severe pressure to perform really well in a very short period of time. It's understandable they can't keep him, if they can't afford paying him without getting their value out of him, but it's rather poor decision-making in the long term.

Not a big fan of Elfi but come on. :p dont invest in a 'popular' player if you cant keep him when he doesnt win a major event Thats just called bad business This I also feel elfi needed more time, to show how really good he is.

It wasn't even half a year! :o Yeah, talk about investing into a player... Unless Elfi asked for more money (which I doubt) then I really don't approve of such flash contracts. "flash contract" ? 4month contract and much less are very common in any field of work, especially when you just hire someone for the first time.

And as bloody dwarf above me points out he's posting better results than a lot of "bigger" names except I guess no high wcs finishes? If elfi gets on a team that has decent players for team leagues you would get much more value out of him. For example EG, it can get a lot of value from elfi in the European scene tbh. Or mouz likewise much value in elfi for them.

You have to realise that we are talking about a God here. Can someone explain the elfi hype? Isn't he one of the lowest apm professional toss? I haven't followed his recent exploits, but I remember him making lots of simple mechanical errors in earlier Homestory Cups. Back then I thought he was one of the players that won games off of Koreans because it was PvX. I have a more enlightened view of toss now but I don't remember any of his games being particularly amazing.

I guess since he is God a note worthy result must be a premier tournament final spot, but he has take a bunch of series against good koreans in a bit smaller tournaments and in dreamhacks even though indeed a godly run is lacking from the last three years. Only four months seemed a bit short for a contract, but for sc2 players it can be a pretty brutal world these days. Vega's way to announce that didn't really make it any more gentle certainly, but different teams do things differently. Hopefully elfi will get things clicking soon and find a solid team. Based on some of his social media posts it's been a bit rough for him irl also.
