because EPS is really unimportant. Sadly because I like its format.

Hmmm, I actually like the new format: -Every cup matters -Having a cup rather than groups or a league adds excitement in my opinion -A-series players can participate Furthermore, the previous format with groups was terrible. The group stage was extremelly boring and only the playoffs offered any excitement. I assume that you have season 17 in mind when you talk about the first season. The league format was certainly better than the group format, but in the league the last few playdays were quite boring since there were a lot of matches that didn't matter, since some people were already through, respectively out. Overall, I'd say that the current cup format is the best the EPS has ever had. However, I agree that the coverage and the production quality could be somewhat better, although there is always Take's stream and if I'm not mistaken also the ESL stream in English.

Yeah, Strelok seemed to play well the few bits I saw of him, dunno what that guys on about, obviously some Strelok hater. Krass was really really good too.
Hoping BlinG makes it through today, we need at least one UK player in this thing!

Probably one of the koreans will make it today...although I don't want that to happen to tell the truth.

sadly BlinG is the only one from UK that has a realistic shot at qualifying, since demuslim plays in the WCS NA (guess so?)

I love EPS and the new open system too. Yes it was more important back then, but that's only natural if you look how big the international tournaments have become. I think Germany can be proud to be one of the few countries to have a national tournament that pros can play in consistently and I really hope EPS never dies. Also seeing XlorD dominate again like back in wc3 gives such a cool nostalgic feeling to the league, I enjoy it a lot again . Once Heromarine joins the fun it will only get better.

It's good to be Terran. HoTS is providing well for even foreign terrans. Grats

I like the new EPS system with the cups more, and what is so bad about the coverage? I mostly watch it on TakeTV, but Kaelaris also casts it afaik.
I really don't get why Krass isn't participating in the EPS cups, those cups would be some of the easiest ways to make money for him and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have trouble reaching the playoffs. EPS will definitely get more exciting when Heromarine is allowed to play and if Krass decides to play in it.

The EPS is nowhere near as important as it was in WC3 or Counter-Strike.
I wouldn't blame the terrible first seasons of the EPS solely on the format. The play and some of the players were bad, the coverage and presentation was bad. EPS's prestige was falling quite rapidly with the death of Counter-Strike and SC2 had top tournaments almost every day, so the "little" EPS fell quite flat. And players couldn't rely on the EPS because of the 2 or more years of payouts for the already declining prize pool.
The new format makes the EPS basically a Go4SC2 for German players. The uniqueness of the old Bundesliga (round-robin) format is gone. It was the best decision at that time to change the format, but the EPS has also lost its unique place with it.
In fact, WCS EU is becoming the league that EPS could have become if everything went great. A longer regular season that is nonetheless exciting. Competition that allows new talents to come in and grow without capping the pool by so much that the better players fall into mediocrity. A prize pool so players can make a decent living. A product that attracts regional and global sponsors.
Oh by the way: Maybe a lot of WCS EU participants move to Germany. Which would make them eligible for the EPS. They could up their allowance if they wanted and bring some glamour into the EPS.

Excited for Krass!
But the best match of the day was PandaTank vs Verdi ^_^

I am rooting for Xigua, Adel and Harstem tonight. Gogo. And thanks again to Kaelaris. Must be stressful to solocast for such a long period of time.

I used to love Strelok, with his original heavy multitasking drop play against protoss, I'm happy that he is achieving results. Hoping to see more of him this year.

Need at least one korean qualifying here... Go Tails goooo :D
