Well it's the mode of transport we're talking about. So a train may be incredibly safe but if in a region that it's dangerous to be on board due to other factors that still makes the mode of transport dangerous.

Yup, over skype with the Roll20 software, and streamed.
See Soniv, since my panic attacks (I assume that's that? Or an equivalent) there's that thought in the back of my mind "What do I do/what happens?" if I'm feeling bad and there's noone around, because whenever it happened either I was home and my parents nearby to help calm them down, or at school and just telling a teacher about it they'd let me go pace a bit around the courtyard for a few minutes to settle down.
So part of why when I'm stressed I don't feel comfortable on the highway is that you can't just stop (in the middle of nowhere no less, so you'd better not need help) and walk a bit, stretch your legs, etc. if it goes wrong, and you're also pretty alone. At one point when I wasn't feeling comfortable in general and used to visit my parents' (only frequent 1h+ trip I make) near dusk, I noticed that I tended to put cars in front of me, as in adapt to their speed so I wouldn't have the long, stretching, empty far-as-the-eye-can-see road in front of me to put these "What if something goes wrong? You're all isolated in an unknown area and night's falling" in my head. I was doing it unconsciously, though I got reminded of that whenever I'd be alone on the road and I'd instinctively accelerate to catch up to the cars in the distance and get back within a "security zone" near them.
I don't feel comfortable having noone around. And my mind is astoundingly stupid. So shit like that happens and I wouldn't be comfortable having a bunch of a plane for myself alone for a few hours, knowing I can't get down either if something feels meh.
Also having heights make me uncomfortable means no sight-seeing either. #firstworldproblems

Out of all the possible deaths, plane crash is probably my #2. It's probably even better than getting murdered.

Ok go ride on trains when you come to KZN because trains are the safest mode of transport. This is why tourists get killed...
All I was saying is that trains change more based on region than Planes do. You seem to completely ignore the region aspect of it and do a blanket statement of the safety of a transportation system which I believe is highly flawed. It's more likely to do harm than good.

Yeah, we should just get rid of all the people instead.

I guess it's hard concept for a European to understand. Some areas are more dangerous than others but by all means assume they are all the same. Just don't tell other people that misinformation please.

It's pretty much the best phone ever. I have an invite (its Tuesday so you don't need one now) if you want to make you mind up later in the week.

@numy I walked by a dead body in Pretoria on my way to my hostel lol. Also I think joburg is the most dangerous city in the world. It's certainly up there.
Yeah plane crash would be a decent way to go out. I like the idea of a failed parachute better though. all the perks of flying, but you get to see the world and feel the air. In general I find death to be super fascinating and while I certainly don't want to die now, I'm really excited for death.

Cape town I think is technically more dangerous than Joburg because of the Cape Flats being a drug/gang war area but as a whole Joburg is def scarier. Drove up there for a practical last week and yea stopping at robots at night is pretty scary there. Also a news presenter got mugged on camera there a few weeks back lol.

Once again you seem to completely misunderstand what I'm saying. Maybe one more time. Statically on average trains are safe but there's a higher variance in the safety of them depending on the region of the train. This makes a comparison between plane and train depend a lot more on where you are travelling than just raw statistics. Statistics only matter so much.
Sure if all you care about is statistics then whatever so be in. I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea when travelling to places like South Africa then having a terrible time due to thinking it's the same as where they are from due to statistics.
