Good Monday everyone. On the bright side, you got more sleep than you usually do, which is a good thing.
There is a silver lining in every cloud!
P.S. Happy Monday pal. Did you have a good weekend? What did you get up to?

Though not Sunday evening, I've got D&D then. Tuesday-Thursday I won't have access to my great big gaming computer of awesomeness. Also on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I'll be in the presence of my dog, which is a good luck charm. She's so cute.

So last night I dual specced the Druid I'm leveling to Resto and tried healing a couple instances. Man, I really hated healing on my Paladin, but this is super fun. HoTs errywhere, throwing out Wraths and Moonfires when bored, super mobility because 3 of my main heals at this level are instants. Balance is kinda fun but it's a lot of cast times and standing around, I'm probably going to Resto it up, even got the Treant glyph for kicks (though I like the NElf casting animations better).

Flipping and casting instants is so much fun yo, I even glyphed Moonkin form with Stars so I'm just see through instead of a chicken.

I mean, I guess that's in order of "importance to playing in terms of general rules" but I mean... DMG... that's still pretty important. A lot of the DMG material is pretty important. XP tables, magic item info, etc. I don't think the Monster Manual supersedes it at all.

I mean, I'd like if they just released all three at once...

It's better than 4E for sure. 3.5E it depends. 3.5E has more flexibility but is also in many ways a fundamentally broken system, so you need an experienced DM for it to not be completely nonsensical. I think 5E is a better system out of the box, but whether it's better as a whole is going to depend on WotC does with it in the coming years.

The pessimistic reasoning is that you can run published adventures with the PHB and none of the other two because published content provides all the info needed to run them, so putting the PHB out first lets them sell published adventures while DMs don't have all the necessary info for their own content with the other two books not out.

I assumed there's some business reason behind it. And I mean, I understand, I'm just also very impatient.

Good point. I must have forgotten all the TOTALLY ESSENTIAL SHIT in there. Maybe I just think making up monsters is hard. >_<
Even more so then...
NOVEMBER?!

5E to me feels like what 4th Edition should have been. A significant change to 3.5 that is meant to revamp a lot of the aspects of 3.5 that were broken, nonfunctional, or nonsensical--but without being so radical as to create problems of it's own.
I think WotC got a bit overconfident with the success of their new design ideas in Star Wars Saga Edition and Tome of Battle that they went completely overboard applying those concepts to 4E. The biggest failing to me of 4E is that "streamlining" every class into the mold of having X at-will powers, Y per-encounter powers, and Z per-day powers is that it makes the classes feel very same-y while they're being played. I understood the goal was to make it so that more lopsided adventuring groups could be playable, but the result ended up being that parties didn't feel lopsided cuz everything was sort of the same.
As crazy as it sounds, the first time I saw a 4E game, with a party of a Barbarian, a Ranger, a Wizard, a Bard, a Cleric, and a Rogue--there were a LOT of times where I would mix up who was playing what because their classes' abilities and features were not distinctive enough for me to immediately recognize who was who.

My Facebook app has been broken since the start of the weekend, so I haven't checked it since then. I just got an email from Facebook being like "you have 4 new notifications and 3 event invites..." Is my life so pitiful that a few notifications is worth sending an email about?
