The corner spot is out of vision of the refinery. But it's not that uncommon of a Nydus spot so maybe Clem puts a depot there anyways if he's going for a different build.

This is the sort of Serral aggression that I like, where he has the potential to deal a lot of damage but he can also use his good knowledge of transitions etc to get advantages even if it doesn't work out perfectly at first. Not those silly "I win or I don't" builds like in game 2.
