I think it was even with rax before supply depot, though not sure about this. It's beta, it's expected to be imbalanced

Though there was a serious protoss hate back then and terran love, even though P race wasn't doing the shit they are doing now(and believe me, it is horrible in PvP as well, I would much appreciate more older style when you could know what's going on more properly).

I was P in BW too. I was told over my 10+year "carreer" that P was the noob and easy to play race... So I guess at some point I just got used to hearing it. It is true that P has a lot of all-in options in SC2 but I don't think any of them are imba or broken. And one can play a standard macro style in P too.
