I get the concept. Just replace american football with real football and those unknown guys with messi and ronaldo.

Acer is a big corporation and if an acquisition of an expensive player is justifiable marketingwise they sure do have the potential to buy anyone.
Ofc the esports team has a limited budget so they probably wont buy just anyone whos good at the game but someone who offers enough exposure too. If they are convinced it is the right move and have had positive experience with innovation im sure they would not be afraid to spend a lot of cash ( in esports context) because its not a lot in comparison to the overall marketing budget of such a huge corporation.
