Guess its more Red Bull sending them instead of esf, because of the training grounds

lol i see how it is. it's kespa vs the world now.

1 tournament that a kespa player didn't win. congrats to anti-kespa peeps

Reading through this topic, I feel like I'm the only one who's okay with the extended series (and I even want Naniwa to win). In a double elim tourney, I don't see why a player who hasn't dropped a single set shouldn't start with some small advantage over a player who has. I don't know if extended series' are the best answer to that question, but it would be unfair to Polt for them to start on equal footing.

Just my two cents.

Well not really the top of KeSPA though

Well the top of KeSPA did not manage to qualify http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2013_MLG_Spring_Championship/KeSPA_Qualifiers

No double elimination makes things pretty difficult... otherwise I definitely believe things would be a lot different in who qualified.

so this season's OSL/WCS results are meaningless?

Why would you try comparing two tournaments with different formats?

But really, the top of Kespa since they won the qualifiers.

They may have won the qualifiers, but it's pretty reasonable to say they are not the top 3 Kespa Players.

Well clearly that makes the victory total unimpressive. Nani did beat the BEST player in the world. Total 'meh' worthy.

Not sure what your getting at, but Naniwa has been very impressive today.

What category does Polt fall under? Do we unironically count him as American now?

Yeah, unironically. He's been in America since before HotS.

Because Polt beat him 2-0 yesterday, and MLG still has their god awful extended series rule

Quick question guys, do i understand this format correct?
IF either Polt or Hyun lose their semi finals match they are both instantly out, even though they havent dropped a single series yet ?

Polt is up 2-0 on Naniwa. Its a Bo7. Naniwa has to win 4-1 to advance. Polt can go 2-3 and advance.

If Sound wins, then Hyun and Sound have a Bo3. If Hyun wins, he goes to the final. If Sound wins, then the Bo3 they just played becomes a Bo7, with the winner of the Bo7 going to the final.

If Hero wins, then it's a Bo7 with Hyun up 2-1.

When it's explained like this, it seems so much more nonsensical.

This is pretty simple, you get an advantage for not dropping a series on your way up to the semis:
- if you met the guy before you get the score from your previous match (2:0 or 2:1 in your favor)
- if you did not meet the guy before you can end it quickly by winning 2 out of first 3 maps.

This makes a lot of sense for me.

Extended series. Polt beat Naniwa 2-0 in the winners' bracket. the rematch is a bo7 with Polt starting with that 2-0 lead

Friends.... countrymen. Give ESF fans what they want. They have been starving for a day like today for a long time. Even illogical arguments like "well they must be the top players because they qualified!!"... Please allow them to believe them. Today, it's their day. KESPA fans get to brag pretty much every other day anyway.... Maybe it's a day like today that will make it a bit less predictable.

Poetic justice if the last "foreigner" in the tournament gets fucked by MLG's Extended Series rule. Remove this garbage already.

Naniwa played polt earlier in this tournament. And because of a stupid rule (extended series) it means people who have played each other, when they face again they continue their series. Which means Polt starts next match 2-0

How does the new extended series work?

Polt leads 2-0. Bo7.

That's not even that bad. I'd say that this extended series is more advantageous for naniwa than a normal double elimination system would be
