Flash wins a lot and has the hype of being a God, so people in the SC2 community have latched onto him. In BW, I'm pretty sure Jaedong and Bisu had bigger fan bases. Flash just has more fans in SC2 because people who didn't follow BW saw all the memes, hype, and want to root for a dude who is known as God of RTS. Yes even if im not really that veteran here, from what i saw there was definitely less God Chanting in BW lrs than it is now ^^ Flash was still super popular in BW and treated like a special guy, but he has a larger fanbase in SC2 over guys like Bisu and Jaedong because from the first time he started playing SC2, casters were hyping him up and people were doing all they could do to find VOD's of the guy. But he's always been treated like a God since his late run of titles. Watch his final between him and Effort. Effort gets a shitty entrance, but Flash gets to come out of a plane and is treated like Jesus Christ. There is no room for every BW story to get brought to the SC2 audience. I'd say Flash and Jaedong have been transmitted without trouble, I would have thought that the Jangbi/Fantasy storyline would also continue on SC2, but that doesn't seem to happen yet. And for Bisu, not playing any match for so long that people were wondering if he retired didn't help at all I guess.
JangBi vs Fantasy will become a story once they become championship contenders. Their last two OSLs made me hope for the next great rivalry so hopefully it does translate into SC2

Sounds suspiciously like another "boring" Terran who won four GSL titles. what? MVP has a predictable playstyle? do you even watch this game? A lot of people considered his games boring (exceptions being vs TOP on Daybreak and that Ghost Snipe nerf game) But it was probably because none of the interesting builds worked against the game genie well, what's boring or not is obviously opinion. i've always disagreed heavily with people saying MVP's play is/was boring, but Alive is one of my favorite terrans to watch so what do i know. but FuRong implied MVP's playstyle was predictable, which is just objectively wrong. the amount of builds he would throw out at seemingly random times - especially at his peak - was one of his greatest strengths.

I do hope that Jangbi vs Fantasy will happen in SC2. But well, I also hoped that HerO vs Puma would last longer.

Did Puma state he was retiring, or is there some hope left ?

mods, is there some way to link the WCS_OSL stream to the thread as well? i feel bad for doa/monte, they're both good casters who deserve more exposure

That's why I put it in air quotes...I don't find MVP's style boring or predictable at all. I was trying to imply that people often criticise successful players for being "boring" or "playing too standard" just because they don't all-in or play flashy (no pun intended) all the time. Flash received that kind of criticism when he was crushing in BW, and MVP did too in SC2.

I i will never take it off.
His whole run (elimination into lucky wildcard group into last chance win into epic last game in finals with carriers, almost like staged).

Flash just needs to scout this time and build 1 or 2 tanks.

I don't think PuMa has said anything, but he's not participated in qualifiers has he? He was notably absent from WCS Korea qualifiers, but might be he will try for WCS NA. If he doesn't participate there, then things are looking a bit like retirement.

With all due respect but there was element of repeatency in Flash play, but what made Flash genius was how he played that part perfetcly in personal leagues and finals(statistically as he failed few times here and there). He abused the fact of predictabilty to be unpredictable (sounds fishy :D). Just watch all his opponents heads crack trying to decipher Flash play. To the point it was annoying (when you were fan of Flash opponent).
Sometimes i just wished both players played without opening lottery, but then i would have to abandon what made starcraft, starcraft.
Ergo Flash was a master gamer and a master poker-player.
