When I read that, I raged a little. It is amazing how little people know Symbol was an up-and-comer before the patch. Patchzerg or not, he has managed to stay fairly consistent in the scene.

If you play zerg you're a patchzerg, infact terrans are patchzergs, you're a patchzerg goddamn patchzerg.

It's what made TvZ my favorite matchup and something I always looked forward to watch when looking at groups and brackets. Then something changed and I didn't like it anymore.

I love Symbol's drop play.

Drops are a really underrated aspect of the Zerg tech tree. I'm happy TSL Zergs managed to show the style off, and used it to great effect.

Wow, such a nice tech switch, doom drop into killing all the Thors into Mutas.
|
That was beautiful anti-Mech play by Symbol. The Muta switch was really smart, and Symbol overall completely dismantled Bomber's style.

Don't worry too much about Bomber. Startale will probably make the IPTL finals, and Bomber will get to play in IPL6 anyway.

I really wish HyuN made it to the Ro4 at least, but Monster has to ruin things for me
Oh well, at least there is International qualifiers, Satellites and some other ones in the future.

Interesting fact of the day: Both Symbol and Jaedong were members of Hwaseung Oz back in BW, and are close friends. Jaedong is the person who gave Symbol his nickname Neeldong.

Before the queen buff he was nowhere near the top level. Like a lot of Zs, but atleast he played an unique style in ZvP and ZvT for a long time.

Symbol had great tactical maneuvering with moving up the ramp and using the Infestors to delay, so the army would destroy the Hatcheries. He also had a great defensive position by placing Roaches in typical counterattack placements, and maintained a low Drone count to have more army.
|
Pretty cool that JD made it to the finals, even if he doesn't manage to win.
|
I hope that symbol wins. Not because I like him more than Jaedong, but because Jaedong has EG's backing so $$$ is no problem. And Symbol is currently teamless, so having his travel expenses covered is huge.

Symbol switched to SC2 late. He was one of the best Zergs in the Korean weeklies, along with Life. Anyone who watched his play back then knew he would end up in Code S sooner or later. He made Iron Squid finals long before the patch.

Fun day of great StarCraft by all the players. I'm happy for Symbol especially, because he seemed to have hit a rough patch with some fairly weak results and TSL disbanding, but this should be a great form of comeback for him. He defeated some great players on his road to the invite: finale (2-1), SuperNoVa (2-1), San (2-1), DRG (2-0!), Bomber (2-1) and Jaedong (2-0). Hope this is the return of Symbol.

mmmm that's debatable. He tragically started to emerge just before the patch so he didn't quite get the chance to prove himself.
Prior to the patch he had:
- Won an Iron Squid qualifier (Beating Polt).
- Got 2nd in the Iron Squid tournament. Most notably beating MKP 3-0 and Nestea 3-1. A 2-4 to MMA is nothing to scoff at either since MMA was actually still decent back then.
- Defeated Seed and sC on his road to code S. The patch hit when he faced Jjakji.
Also, even though a lot of Zergs found success after the patch Symbol still distinguished himself and along with Squirtle, Taeja, and Life I'd say had the highest peak of 2012. Brief though it was. Symbol had and possibly still does have one of the strongest lategames I've ever seen from a Zerg.
