PvP has always been HerO's bogey matchup if Feast has a good day he could cause an upset. Second match is Sase vs Moon - Moon is Moon, he's either godlike or godlike terrible, ZvP is his worst matchup so he'll need to be godlike mode and then he can go on to face his favoured matchups and actually go far in the tournament. well i think vortex as also a chance to upset even so violets ZvZ looks pretty good. The ZvZ is probably the most 1-sided match in the tournament alone on paper, only Leenock and Nerchio have beaten Violet this year in ZvZ whereas Vortix couldn't even beat Stephano in 5 attempts at it who's notoriously bad at it. Stephano isn't nearly as bad in ZvZ as everyone makes him out to be. He just isn't as dominant as in the other matchups, and a bit less consistent. He still has some pretty good mirror play. Vortix just 2-1 ed Leenock last week online http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_Ritmix_Russian_StarCraft_2_League_Season_2And Stephano despite losing 1-4 to Violet last MLG is a HORRIBLE 8-9 vs him With a win this year. At Red Bull Battlegrounds (the big one MC won for $15k) And Stephano is 9-5 lifetime vs Nerchio including 2-0ing him last Dreamhack. Online tournament. Korean ping to NA server sometimes can be god awful - I'm presuming NA server cos they need a neutral place for him to face Vortix but the fact it's online and not on same home servers makes the thing irrelevant.
So you were incorrect in saying that Violet hasn't lost to Stephano this year. In fact Stephano used the ling-infestor-ultra combo that Vortix did to catch Stephano offguard, in an epic game vs Violet. Violet 4-1 last time isn't exactly relevant when Revival also 2-0ed Stephano b/c he had shit ZvZ that MLG weekend. The previous MLG Arena Stephano 2-1ed Revival.
The 4-1 win by Violet was two games where Stephano had awful muta defense, missed 5 minerals for a spine cheese, and got 10pooled allin.
The main reason Stephano has subpar ZvZ vs his other matchups is just reading the game and understanding the matchup. With his APM, mechanics, and multitask it should be extremely strong and it may just be soon.

People bringing up Stephano beat X, Y and Z zerg and trying to reason how he could win. We are forgetting the most important thing. When facing an opponent, the most important statistic is your record against that particular player. So many things can go through a players mind when going up against an opponent who seems to have your number.
One thing could be..."oh shit I cant beat this guy" and you are already at a loss before the game even starts. Alternatively it could trigger a fire inside to keep wanting to improve so that you can eventually beat him. Symbol displayed this in the GSL this week by beating his nemesis - Seed. Sure Stephano has a fighting chance against Violet, but if you have to weigh the odds, the odds are certainly in Violets favor in according to match history.

I'm not seeing how the link has any relevance at all to Violet and Stephano, the link showed Vortix beating Leenock in an Online game in an uneven footing, presumably both players connected to NA server with the possibility of Leenock lagging, you don't lag on NA servers from Spain unless you're running a Cereal box as a router.

I also think viOlet is a bit better, but it's not like Stephano winning a ZvZ series against him is impossible to imagine.

Am I referencing the link at all? You obviously have not seen the games between Violet and Stephano at Red Bull so why not watch the games before discussing. EDIT: "The 4-1 win by Violet was two games where Stephano had awful muta defense, missed 5 minerals for a spine cheese, and got 10pooled allin."
EDIT: Hero is 2-6 vs Stephano at LANs and yet ppl think he has a decent chance.

And what about the other 2 games?
*Interestingly enough, AZUBU.viOLet – one half of the Korean Zergs who defeated Stephano in ZvZ at Raleigh – will be in attendance at Valencia. Back at Raleigh, the term "schooled" was defined in a way never before seen in StarCraft II, as viOLet fended off Stephano's 6 pool rush with ease, and then defeated the French Zerg with his own early pool tactics the very next game (VODs). If Stephano's twitter is to believed, those losses led him improve his ZvZ for WCS Europe, in which case he would certainly love to thank viOLet by knocking him out of this tournament.

Stephano certainly has a chance against Violet, just lower. If i had to put a number on it, id say 60% chance Violet will win, or 40% Stephano winning.

NightEnD - Feast finals!

Guys, don't sleep on Nightend against Stephano in that first round. Nightend beat Taeja 2-1, something Stephano failed to do. While its a different matchup now, it isn't an accident Nightend has a 10-1 record so far.

Hoping elfi will pull a rabbit out of the hat again by taking down another top tier Korean. Fingers crossed.

Nah, I am just bitter because I do not qualify due to their stringent standards for qualification.

I can or cannot confirm the presence of a LR group secretly running the LR threads at this time.
If you want more information please contact Hassybaby with a payment of £500 or 5 Dota hats per PM .

He has been playing absolutely amazing yesterday, especially the match against Violet was insane. Didn't expect him to beat someone of Violet's caliber.

We have to go deeper.

Sase vs Taeja would be an awesome set I really hope they both when their matches tomorrow. Nightend has also been playing so well but I don't think Stephano can lose ZvP right now.

I have those two picked out as well

I do give the advantage to Hero though as he could steamroll Feast but I can't see it happen the other way around. Moon is..well, Moon. Hard to know what to expect of him. That series is the most interesting to me outcome wise.
