I wouldn't count out either of them though Hard to tell what kind of form MMA is in, and Mvp still has those championship qualities, he won't be a pushover as BaBy found out in the OSL yesterday. Even after everything that's happened in the past 2 years, people STILL deny Mvp. I don't get it. He is nowhere near the level he was at when he was winning everything. That is undeniable. He is still a winner but can lose due to his wrists sadly too.
The last time people kept emphasizing his wrists, he showed us one of the best GSL finals, and one of the most entertaining series in Starcraft 2, when Protoss were on a rampage and Terran was the weakest.
I denied him then, and many times before... :\

Aren't all players that get the 'best player in the world" title overhyped? Because there will be a point where they lose some games and no longer the 'best in the world". So people will say that he was overhyped because he is no longer winning every game. Happened to MC, Nestea, Mvp, MMA, DRG, MKP and now Taeja.

I'm a huge mvp fan and there was a time when he was by far the best player in the world (correspondent to the fact he has the highest peak elo in the history of SC2) He's not as good as he was then. Because of his wrist injury, his mechanics are worse. Currently. when he plays an Zerg or Terran with a lot better mechanics than him you can tell the difference-- see Taeja/violet last GSL.
Usually the "best player in the world" is unfounded, but there was a time when Mvp was deserviving of the title. And while MKP, DRG, MMA, and Taeja have all shown glimpses of being the best player in the world, none of them deserve the title. Starcraft 2 fans throw the word around far too often. There are no bonjwas (and probably never will be as Blizzard continues to make the game easier) so the best you can do is say "so-in-so is playing the best currently).

Well, Nestea actually was the best player of the world for some time. And I think the same can be said after MCs second GSL title. But yeah, MVP is definatly closest to the title overall, though I'd change my opinion the moment Nestea would win this or the next Code S.

I agree for the most part, but I disagree based on certain circumstances.
You're right about Starcraft 2 fans being eager to use the phrase "best in the world", but that doesn't mean they're wrong. For me, the idea of "best in the world", or "bonjwa", stems from Brood War. But that was a different game - it was a game that allowed us to easily identify players who reigned for long periods of time.
That's just not possible with Starcraft 2; at least not with Wings of Liberty, and (likely) not with Heart of the Swarm. The game is changing too often, too fast - and I use the word 'changing' as opposed to 'evolving'. Is it possible to determine who is the best in Starcraft 2, ever? Yes. But we can't have the Brood War mindset when we decide who it is. What made a bonjwa in Brood War, in my opinion, will never be seen in Starcraft 2.
In Brood War, the Koreans decided who the best was. Right now, it feels like no one has the authority to, or no one has stepped up to name the best. There are too many factors can determine "the best player", but in terms of satisfying as many of those factors as possible, it's definitely Mvp. Most championships at the highest level, highest earnings of any SC2 pro-gamer, highest ELO peak, etc.
Remember, in Brood War, even bonjwas would drop out of tournaments at times when it was considered to be "their era".

There's not really a title. I personally just think Taeja is, or at least has had a period of time where he truly was the best player in the world. And MKP has had that too.

dammit, JD needs waay more experience. He gets himself in so many favorable positions and just throws them away. It's so frustrating to watch him play especially when you're a fan. Anyways i'm glad he wasn't completely dominated by MC and MKP and I'm hoping he at least gets into the up/down matches.

Jaedong can do that. Its just he needs more time with SC 2.

I don't think it is just BW. It is for most sports and competition. There is discussion and arguments for best player, best team, greatest of all time for soccer, basketball, chess, tennis, etc.

Human race are ugly. And ugly is actually one kind of beauty which always tells truth.

Well, at least MC is still in OSL :D

God, my hear is broken after watching the JD games...he was so ahead in game 1 and was in decent shape in game 2 vs MC. And then he starts baneling speed too late vs MKP. I'm afraid JD will lose his passion if he's not able to win something in the near future

I wouldn't worry about that. Literally just a few days/week ago tops he has been able to transition fully into sc2 now that his teams out of proleague.
