Looking at these brackets. I wonder, would the viewercounts be higher if Koreans weren't at MLG? Or at least limited? Personally everytime I see barely any western players are left my interest just drops like a brick. I doubt I'm alone in that. In the end I'm sure MLG wants as high as possible viewercounts.

Apparently Sundance has had some sort of reputation for guessing correct MLG winners.
In interview he did with slasher he also predicted Flash to win Kespa, as well as MC to win this MLG.
Certainly think that's an interesting prediction with MC, but it might be the new Sundance Blessing.

Betting on Flash to win something is like, you know, betting on the favourite.

j/k I didn't expect Flash to have improved so much when he still has an OSL to win.

After seeing countless hyped foreigners get rocked in the Code A qualifiers I stopped caring about the foreign scene. You have no credibility IMO if you don't make it into Code A or have a winning record versus Code A players that are playing abroad.

MLG is all about the koreans IMO.

Well Huk (in the HotBig interview) and others pointed out that:
more foreigners left -> more viewers;
more koreans -> higher level competition.

To an extent. I doubt an MLG only consistent of foreigners would have more viewers than a good mix of the best Koreans and a bunch of the best foreigners.

You guys should watch the Flash POV cam... it's absolutely ridiculous how good his mechanics are.. he literally keeps his money under 150-200 at all times. Gas never goes over 300 (i usually see it at double digits) and minerals are always being spent for something.

Well to win the tournament MC would have to beat MKP, and I just don´t see that happening,.

As much as people argue at what his skill level are at in sc2 right now, it is for sure it won't be his mechanics that will hold him back.

Agreed, the Foriegner vs Korean storyline is one the most enduring things in SC2. I feel like this MLG went too far in the Korean direction, but some tournaments like Dreamhack don't do enough to bring Korean's in, and it hurst their legitimacy. I say this as though the tournaments have much control over it, with the openbrackets and the fact that all the Koreans have come from the Arena, it feels like Koreans have just chosen MLG to be their tournament.

I got to agree , a the end of the day its the Koreans are simply the better players.

I watch Premership football in England and the top flight is dominated by Foreign players. They simply have better skill, and technique. With out them i wouldnt even turn on the TV to watch them. Its a fact of life

Class floats to the top, as has and always will. Westerns for the most part are overated to the extreme. There is currently about 3 or 4 players from Europe that can actually win a best or 5 from a Korean players.

People wont pay to watch substandard players its a simple as that.

Lol, really? Even after 20 minutes in-game you think it's not hard to maintain near perfect macro? A lot of pros spike up in cash, and much lesser players frequently have this problem too with macro when their attention is fixated on moving around their armies late-game

Flash looks impressive but let's not go overboard. I'll wait until he plays someone who's actually good to great at SC2

i disagree actually. For every foreigner who went to code a there are koreans that highly underperform in MLG style tournaments.

In code A/Code S it's a methodical game by game approach. For MLG it's a survival game. Most westerners practice for the second, with little experience in the first. If you notice, the foreigners that had succeeded in korea were the more methodical and mechanically inclined players.
