Okay we're going to start cracking down on people bashing players for no reason. You don't have to like every player, but at least show some respect. (as of page 402)

Can anyone point me to an explanation of the brackets? I'm looking on the MLG wiki page and I'm confused as to what the open leads into. I see that fenix, thorzain, july, and major made it out of the open brackets - and got seeded into pools as a result? When you lose in the open bracket you drop to the losers bracket? And then the final 8 in the lower bracket play #s 5-8 of the upper bracket? Am I on a roll?

Thanks for the updates, Tyler maybe starting to eat his words about ex WC3 players now .

Aren't all those up and coming chinese players former WC3 pros as well?

yeah but that's because wc3 was huge in china

WC3 is not that huge in china because of dota but it's still decent enough, I expect Infi and th000(if they switch) to do very well.

Isnt It infi is number 1 world ranking now in GM ?

You can't compare SC2Ranks cross server, it's just not accurate.

It's ironic - most of the very high level WC3 pros - Grubby, Lyn, etc - are not doing all that great. Many of the lesser known WC3 players are doing amazing.

Like others have said, it really doesn't matter too much what game you played before SC2.

To be fair Grubbys pretty dam good considering how long ago he switched.

Agreed, Grubby joined into sc2 waay after everyone else and he is doing amazing in the euro tourney scene, give it a little more time and grubby should be dominating everywhere else (at least i hope so )

if you ever listen to SOTG, on 1 SOTG idrA said that this is actualy BS, grubby was one of the first people who got to play beta, and was playing it for a long time.

Yeah, but he was still a WC3 pro and trained for that. I'd imagine he was simply playing SC2 like an average gamer would, rather than focusing on becoming the best

what is going on with kiwikaki? i haven't been able to catch any of his games...is he just playing like shit? bad timings? build order losses? what's up with the kid, i've always liked him. it'd be a shame if he went out without any wins.

also, is there a thread about how bad mlg's website is? if not one should get started, maybe they'd take notice.

Idra and Naniwa the only ones to take a series off a GSL Korean.

well considering how moon currently isn't in code a or s, that makes idra the only one to beat a GSL korean.

yeah the koreans are on a different level for sure. just take a look at this game.

well I think there are some nonkoreans who can compete

what comes to mind is white-ra, dimaga, naniwa, huk, maybe jinro or kas, thorzain, happy, idra, sen, maybe some chinese guys... prolly some others im not thinking of. and then there are some others who can win but only if they are really on their game. im thinking like sheth or kiwikaki level.

I am really so interested to see how idra or naniwa or thorzain can do vs these koreans. my personal pick for this tournament is idra.

A lot of foreigners seem to suffer a sort of LAN anxiety. Sheth choking up against MMA was a big example of it.

Koreans have the experience of sitting in a booth for Code S and Code A on a frequent basis.
Foreigners who usually end up playing most if not all tournaments from their desktop have to play against an unfamiliar style in an unfamiliar booth.

Haha, it's funny how people call jetlag a bad excuse but no one would ever call this out.

Moon is just playing in an easy group, Nani defeated Moon 2-0..but the other players are pretty weak in that group.

It wasn't a resounding 2-0, though. Moon messed up pretty bad in at least the taldarim altar game where he probably would have won if he had killed the artosis pylon instead of throwing away all his lings.

yeah seriously...what?? i was watching that game and i was thinking "o nice, Moon just destroyed Naniwa", only to come back 4 minutes later and be like...wtf!!

No, because Grubby was still deep in the WC3 scene at the time, he didn't begin playing SC2 until late Jan.
