Np. All the abbreviations can be a pain in the ass until you go read what they all mean, since nobody really uses them carefully in the US. The best way to think about it is this: You live in the US eastern time zone. Part of the year, that means your local time is EST (Eastern Standard Time). The rest of the year, including right now, that means your local time is EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). In terms of UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), EST is UTC-5, and EDT is UTC-4, because daylight saving time (DST) is one hour later than standard time. (That's why people say you spring forward in the spring (for DST) and fall back in the fall (back to standard time).) | ||
